of Distributing Objects by Property

When using Capital Schematic Generator for Functional Designs to generate diagrams, you can specify that you want to distribute objects across one or more diagrams based on object property values.

In this example, a functional design “FunctionReference:RevA” has one diagram and it is associated with a platform design “Logical Platform:RevA”.

The functional design has many functions that are allocated to various components in the platform design based on the property AllocatedTo (whose value is a component name to which you want to allocate the function).

The allocation of the functions to components is controlled by a “Allocate to Attribute/Property” constraint on the platform design.

The function AirFanControl_D1 has the value Powertrain for AllocatedTo.

Therefore, it has been allocated to the Powertrain component in the platform design (as seen in Figure 5).

Instead of having just one diagram for the function design, you want it to have separate diagrams that contain the functions that are allocated to a particular component. For example, a diagram that shows the functions allocated to the Powertrain component.

You can distribute the functional design diagram in that way by using the AllocatedTo property with the Capital Schematic Generator for Functional Designs. That is, it will distribute the connectivity into multiple diagrams, one diagram per component.

You right-click the functional design and choose Generate Diagrams to open the New Generated Diagrams dialog box.

You select Property in the Distribution by field and enter AllocatedTo as the property.

When you click Distribute, the action distributes all the functions that are listed under Available Connectivity to diagrams named after the components.

The action did not distribute the signals so you click Auto Complete to distribute all undistributed connectivity (including the signals) to the target diagrams.

When you click Generate Diagrams, the action creates the target diagrams (one per component) in the function design and distributes the functions and signals between them as you specified.
