Pin Predict

Pin Predict uses fuzzy logic to produce the closest match for the selected synthesized net against a defined pin property on the library part or ICD. The device/ICD pin table is re-sorted by closest match.

Unlike AutoMap (which only maps on an exact net-name match), Pin Predict handles the common case where a synthesized net name is close to, but not identical to, the target pin name.

Shortcuts

Action Shortcut
Pin Predict ' (single quote)
Map Pin Enter

Workflow

  1. Select Pin Predict, or press '. Library device rows are re-sorted and the best match is selected.
  2. Press Enter. The row is mapped, selection moves to the next unmapped pin, and Pin Predict runs again to re-sort the remaining library device pins.
  3. Repeat.

Productivity tip

Because step 2 both maps the current pin and re-runs Pin Predict for the next one, a user can rapidly map all pins on a device by alternating: 'Enter'Enter'Enter → etc.

Configuring which property Pin Predict matches on

Specify the library pin property used by Pin Predict with the project property Pin_Predict_Property_Name. This lets you control which pin attribute (rather than just the pin name) Pin Predict uses as its fuzzy-match basis, which matters if your library parts encode function via a dedicated property rather than the pin name itself.
