Assigning and Editing Permissions

and Change Policies on a User Account

You can assign and edit permissions and change policies on a user account.

Caution

Permissions belonging to a role assigned to a user account will overrule permissions specified on the Permissions tab for a user. This includes roles assigned via a user account’s association with a user group. If you manage an account in Derived Access Control mode, you cannot assign and edit permissions directly in the user account. The user groups to which the account belong enforce the permissions for it. See Derived Access Control.

Prerequisites

Procedure

1. On the Permissions tab, select the permissions that you want to assign/unassign to the user account. Some of the permissions have sub-permissions that are all automatically selected when their parent permission selected. Select or deselect the sub-permissions as required. See Permissions for information about each of the permissions that you can select.A selected sub-permission means the user will possess that permission. Note The Analysis sub-permission under the Edit Project permission gives a user the ability to edit an Analysis Project Model in Capital Project Manager. You must have this permission checked if you want to import and export projects that have Analysis Project Models attached to them.

2. If you do not wish to create or edit the options on the other tabs, click the OK button to save the permissions and leave the Edit User Account dialog or, click the Apply button to save the permissions and keep the dialog open.

3. A Change Policy is used to control which object attributes and properties a user can interactively create, modify, and delete design tools within the Capital suite.Select a change policy from the drop-down selector field to apply to the user account. Note A change policy assigned explicitly to a user account takes precedence over any change policy assigned to any role that may be assigned to the user account.
