Using Designs

You can create a design from within Capital Logic Designer. Design revisions can be exported from, and imported into, the Capital databases as XML files. The data stored in XML files is readily manipulated manually.

Procedure

Determine the action you want to take:

If you want to...	Do the following:
Create a design	Either: Press Space Bar and enter New Logic Design. Right-click the project in the Project Browser and select New Logical Design. The New Logical Design Dialog Box is displayed. Enter a Name for the design. Enter a Revision. Click OK. The design revision is created and added to the Project Browser inside a design folder. If you chose to create a diagram it is created inside the design revision.
Import a design	See “Importing Designs into a Project” in the Capital Design Tools - Common Functions User Guide.
Export a design	See “Exporting a Design From a Project” in the Capital Project Manager User Guide.
Edit the attributes / properties of a design	Right-click the design revision in the Project Browser and select Edit. The Edit Design Dialog Box is displayed. Edit the attributes and properties as required. Click OK. See “Editing a Property for a Design” in the Capital Design Tools - Common Functions User Guide to add, edit, or delete design properties.
Copy a design	See “Copying a Design Within a Project” or “Copying Designs From One Project to Another” in the Capital Project Manager User Guide.
Create a revision of a design	See “Creating a Design Revision” in the Capital Project Manager User Guide.
Delete a design folder, design, or design revision	Note The ability to delete a design or design revision may depend on its release level and the permitted behaviors assigned to that release level in Capital Project Manager. In design applications, you can only delete designs that can be authored in that application. In the Project Browser right-click a design folder, design, or design revision and select Delete. The Confirm Delete message box is displayed. Click Delete all or Delete to proceed and delete the contents of the design folder, design, or design revision. The design folder, design, or design revision and all its contents is removed from the database. If a design folder, design, or design revision cannot be deleted an error message provides details of why it cannot be deleted.
