Filtering the Objects Displayed on a Diagram

The Capital Logic Designer filtering functionality enables you to filter the objects displayed in a logical diagram so that only the design elements included in particular vehicle options or a vehicle configuration are displayed. This enables the creation of dynamic evaluated designs.

When you apply filtering it is applied to all open diagrams in the current project. Filtering is project-specific. If you have more than one project open, filtering applied in one project does not affect which objects are displayed on diagrams in other open projects. Filtering settings are not saved. If you close and reopen Capital Logic Designer, it reverts to the default setting of no filtering.

Filtering is only applied to connectivity objects. Graphical shapes (lines and rectangles) and graphical objects (images, text, glyphs, and symbols) are not filtered. Filtering does not change design data. The effect of filtering an object out of the diagram is limited to the following:

• It is not displayed on the diagram.

• It is not selectable on the diagram (but is still selectable in the Design Browser).

• Stretches and manipulations of visible objects never result in a connection to the invisible object.

Procedure

1. To open the Capital Logic Designer Design Filter Dialog Box:Press the space bar and enter Filter Design.

Click the Filtering button on the Status Bar.

2. Select one of the following Filter options:Graphics by Configuration Display only objects that have option expressions that match the list of options in a particular option configuration.

Graphics by Option Display only objects that have option expressions that match the list of options in the Selected list. Tip If the Available and Selected lists are not displayed, click Show Filter Options. To remove filtering select the No Filtering option.

3. Add the configuration or options to filter by to the Selected list.

4. To display objects with no assigned option expressions, select Show Non‑Optioned Objects.

5. Click OK.

Results

Filtering is applied to the diagram. The Filtering button on the Status Bar indicates that filtering is being applied ().

The effects of filtering differ by object type. See the “Usage Notes” in Capital Logic Designer Design Filter Dialog Box.

If there are no objects that have option expressions that match your filter configuration / options, and there are no non‑optioned objects or you have not selected “Show Non-Optioned Objects”, all the connectivity objects on the diagram will be filtered-out and therefore invisible.

Tip

To remove filtering, access the Capital Logic Designer Design Filter Dialog Box, click the Filter dropdown list and select No Filtering, and then click OK.
