Signal Map Dialog Box for Inline
To access: Select an inline half in the Diagram Window or Design Browser (Design tab) and either right-click the selected object and choose Signal Map, or press Space Bar and enter Signal Map.
Use this dialog box to refine inline halves and map signals between the cavities on them.

| Field | Description |

| Connectors tab | Displays the Generalized Connectors (inline connectors) and is used to define the Specialized Connectors for each side of the inline half and to mate them with each other. Each row represents a mating of a connector on one inline half with a connector on the other inline half. By default, the table is split into two sections by the connector splitter () column. The fields on either side of this represent the two halves of the inline pair. The order in which the inline halves are displayed in the Signal Map tables depends on the ‘Align the inline Signal Map tables with the orientation of the inline connector’ project preference. See Signal Map node in Project Preferences for Capital Systems Integrator Designs of the Capital Design Tools – Common Functions User Guide. Duplicate matings are not allowed. If you create duplicates, they display in red and the OK button for the dialog box is unavailable. To sort the table rows based on the contents of a column, click the column header. To select which columns you want displayed in the table, right-click a column header and select/unselect the column names as required. |
| Add Connector Mapping | When a connector cell is selected in the Connector Mating Table (on the left or the right half of the inline), this adds a new row. The row represents a new specialized connector on the same inline half as the selected connector cell. By default, its name is prefixed by the name of its parent connector. You can mate this new specialized connector with another one on the other inline half. Enabled only if a connector field is selected in the Connector Mating Table. |
| Delete Connector Mapping | When a connector mating row is selected in the Connector Mating Table, this deletes that row. If no other mating exists for either connector in the row, one or both of those connectors is also deleted from the system. If the system deletes all but one specialized connector for a generalized connector, it deletes the remaining specialized connector and replaces it with the generalized connector. The system transfers any attributes to the generalized connector. Enabled only if a connector field is selected in the Connector Mating Table. |
| Copy connector | When a connector is selected in the Connector Mating Table, this creates a connector based on that selected connector. The new connector has the same part number and cavity count as the original connector, and maps to the same connector on the other inline half. You can edit the details and mapping. |
| Show Fanout | Displays the Fanout Viewer Dialog Box that allows you to create a Fanout diagram of the specialized connectors in a generalized connector (inline connectors). The fanout diagram allows you to reorder the connectors, add new bundle nodes and define the length of the bundles. You can leave the Fanout Viewer dialog box open alongside this dialog box. |
| Connector (Column header) | A unique identifier for a generalized connector or specialized connector. Either: enter a new identifier to rename the connector select the identifier for an existing connector from the drop-down list Note The Connector column drop-down list is filtered to show only connectors that are present in the same configurations as the device that is being mapped to. If an expected connector is missing, it may have the wrong variant assigned or the plan definition could be incorrect. |
| Variant (Column header) | If this is a variant connector, enter the variant option expression for the connector. You can enter the expression manually or click in the field and click the ellipsis (...) button to display the Set Variant Dialog Box where you build the expression by selecting options and operators. The Signal Mappings tab displays the expression in brackets next to the connector name in the Connector column. |
| Part (Column header) | Specifies a library part for the generalized connector or specialized connector in the Connector column. Click the field and click the ellipsis (...) button in the field to display the Part Selection dialog box where you can select a library part. If a library part is already selected, you can: right-click the field and click Update Library Part to update it with the latest details for it from Capital Component Manager right-click the field and choose Remove Library Part to remove the library part association from the specialized connector |
| Cavity Count (Column header) | Specifies the number of cavities on the generalized connector or specialized connector in the Connector column. If a Part Number is selected, this is read-only. If no part number is selected, enter the number of cavities manually. Note If you reduce the cavity count, the system verifies that the count is not below the minimum required for the signals and wires mapped to the connector, and it removes only unused cavities from the signal map. |
| Connector Splitter | Splits the table between the two halves of the inline pair. Click the Select both halves icon to select both halves in the row. |
| Clear Selection | Clears any selection that you have made in the connector mating table at the top of the dialog box. |
| Wire Info tab | Displays details of the wires connecting to the connectors from the Connector Mating table. Each row represents a wire. If no connector mating row is selected in the Connector Mating table, all wires connecting to all of the connectors are displayed. If a connector mating row is selected in the Connector Mating table, wires connecting to only the selected mated connectors display. You can right-click a row for a wire and choose Wire Properties to view and edit the properties for the wire, including its library part. To sort the table rows based on the contents of a column, click the column header. To select which columns you want displayed in the table, right-click a column header and select/unselect the column names as required. |
| Set Variance | Displays the Set Variant Dialog Box where you can specify a variant option expression for the wire currently selected on the Wire Info tab. If you specify this, the wire becomes a Variant Wire. You can select multiple rows on the tab to specify the same variant option expression for multiple wires. Optional, enabled only when a wire row is selected on the Wire Info tab. |
| Status Column (Blank column header at start) | Displays an error or warning symbol if there is an issue with the wire. Move your mouse over the symbol to view a brief description of the issue. |
| Harness (Column header) | The harness to which the wire belongs. Read-only. Note When the inline connector is connected to multiple harnesses, the Harness column in the Signal Map dialog box is blank because there is not enough information to determine which harness the signal will be present in. |
| Connector/Hole (Column header) | The connector to which the wire is connected. Read-only. |
| Cavity/Backshell (Column header) | The connector cavity or backshell through which the wire passes. Read-only. |
| Signal (Column header) | The signal carried by the wire. Read-only. |
| Multicore (Column header) | The multicore to which the wire belongs. Read-only. |
| Wire (Column header) | The name of the wire. Read-only. |
| Part (Column header) | The library part assigned to the wire. Read-only. |
| Spec (Column header) | The specification of the wire. Read-only. |
| Material (Column header) | The material of the wire. Read-only. |
| Color (Column header) | The color of the wire. Read-only. |
| Variant (Column header) | The variant option expression for a variant wire. Optional, read-only here, edited by clicking Set Variance. |
| Option Expression (Column header) | The option expression on the wire. Read-only. |
| Module Code (Column header) | The module code of the wire. Read-only. |
| To (Column header) | The object and pin to which the wire connects at the other end. Read-only. |
| Signal Mappings tab | Used to map signals and wires between the cavities of connectors on each inline half. Each row represents a signal and wire mapping between connector cavities on both halves of the inline. If no connector mating row is selected in the Connector Mating table (at the top of the dialog box), all mappings for all connectors display. If a connector mating row is selected, only the mappings that apply to the connectors in that row display. The table is divided into two sections by the Preferred Signal column. The fields on either side of this apply to the connector cavities on either side of the inline. If you are working in multi user mode (Harness Concurrency) and you have the lock on both halves of the inline, any changes to wire / signal assignment on one half also change the other half. Note If you have selected rows in the table and want to clear the selection, right-click them and choose Clear Selection. |
| Duplicate Cavity | Creates a new row that is a duplicate of the currently selected mapping row. |
| Delete Copied Cavity | Deletes the selected duplicate row from the table. Enabled only if you have selected a duplicate row. |
| Delete Mapping | Deletes the selected empty wire row from the table. Enabled only when the same device pin is connected to a wire on another cavity. |
| Auto-Set Preferred Signal | Automatically sets the preferred signal on every generalized cavity based on the signal(s) connected to the cavity (including via specialized cavities). If this results in an ambiguous result (that is, multiple signals), the preferred signal is not set. |
| Manage Variance | Enabled only after wiring synthesis or when a selected row has a preferred signal. Displays the Manage Variance Dialog Box where you specify variant option expressions for the currently selected mapping rows and thereby create variant signals and wires. You may want to do this if you want a signal to go through different cavities, independently of variant connectors, in different configurations. |
| Status Column (Blank column header at start of table) | Displays an error or warning symbol if there is an issue with the mapping. Move your mouse over the symbol to view a brief description of the issue. |
| Connector (Column header) | Displays the name of a generalized connector or specialized connector from the Connector Mating table. If this is a variant connector, the variant option expression is displayed in brackets next to the name. Read-only. |
| Cavity (Column header) | Displays the name of a cavity or backshell termination () on the connector. Read-only. You can right-click a cavity in this column and choose Properties to view the attributes and properties for it. Note You can move, swap, and copy signal mappings when editing them in the Signal Mappings tab of a Signal Map dialog box. See Moving, Swapping, and Copying Signal Mappings. |
| Harness (Column header) | Displays the name of the harness owning the connector. Read-only. |
| Signal (Column header) | Specifies the signal traveling between the connector cavities from the Cavity columns. Click this field and select the signal name from the drop-down list. Mandatory. |
| Wire (Column header) | Displays the wire that is carrying the Signal and is mapped to the connector cavity in the Cavity column. Editable by double-clicking only if there are multiple wires for the signal, otherwise read-only. |
| Multicore (Column header) | Displays the name of the multicore to which the wire belongs. |
| Preferred Signal (Column header) | If you have not synthesized wiring yet, you can select a preferred signal for the Cavity in this row. Wiring synthesis maps that signal to this cavity as a preference rather than using an unassigned cavity or creating a new cavity. If you are working in multi user mode (Harness Concurrency), the first user to lock a half of the inline can edit this. You can use the Auto-Set Preferred Signal button to populate this column. Optional. See Preferred Signal Behavior during Wiring Synthesis. Note When selecting a preferred signal via the drop-down list in the signal map for an inline connector, the selected signal will be populated only in the Preferred Signal column. The Signal columns are not updated based on this selection. |
| Inactive mappings filter (Hide inactive mappings / Show all mappings | Filters the contents of the Signal Mappings tab so that only active mappings display. An inactive mapping in the Signal Map means a mapping that is effectively invalid due to the combination of option expressions. For example, a LHD wire mapped to a RHD connector will be considered ‘inactive’ since this mapping can never occur (assuming LHD and RHD are defined as exclusive). This inactivity usually occurs due to the combination of net/wire options and either variant connectors or variant signals. |
| Show Faceviews Hide Faceviews | Opens or closes the Connector Faceview panel at the side of the Signal Map dialog box. Show Faceviews is unavailable if there are no accessible comment symbols for the connectors in the signal map. See Viewing Connector Faceview Symbols in Signal Maps. Note The Connector Faceview Panel is not shown by default when you first open a Signal Map dialog box. When you open a Signal Map dialog box again, it remembers whether you selected to show or hide the panel the previous time. |
| Unmapped Signals tab | When there are unmapped signals in the Signal map dialog box, a message displays at the bottom of the Signal Mappings tab: There are unmapped signals. Click here to view them. You can click to open a separate Unmapped Signals tab that lists the same columns but only the rows for unmapped signals. The tab is tearable and can be dragged away from its position in the dialog box so that it displays in its own separate window. When first dragging the tab to display the separate window, you must release the mouse button within the area of the Signal Map dialog box. You can then drag the separate window to a location outside of the dialog box. See Mapping a Signal Between Cavities on the Halves of an Inline Connector for instructions on mapping signals. Note If you have selected rows in the table and want to clear the selection, right-click them and choose Clear Selection. |
| Cavity Matings tab | Used to mate the cavities of the mated connectors from the Connector Mating table. Each row represents a mating of two cavities. The table is divided into two sections (one for each of the mated cavities) between the Cavity columns. By default, the cavity matings are inferred from the Signal Mappings tab. If no connector mating row is selected in the Connector Mating table, all cavity mappings for all of the connectors are displayed. If a connector mating row is selected in the Connector Mating table, cavity matings only for the selected connector pair display. If the selected row contains only one inline half, only that connector and its cavities display on this tab and the fields are read-only because there is no cavity mating to do. To sort the table rows based on the contents of a column, click the column header. To select which columns you want displayed in the table, right-click a column header and select/unselect the column names as required. Read-only if a mating for the inline pair exists in Capital Component Manager or if you have locked only one inline half. |

| Connector (Column header) | Displays the name of a generalized connector or specialized connector from the Connector Mating table. The two connectors specified in a row are mated. Read-only. |
| Cavity (Column header) | Displays the name of a cavity on a connector. The two cavities specified in a row are mated. To change the cavity for this mating, either: click the table cell and select an existing cavity name from the drop-down list. If the selected cavity is used in another cavity mating row, the previous value from the row being edited moves to that row. enter a new name for the cavity and press Enter; the old cavity name is updated to the new name wherever used in this table. Not possible if the connector has a library part. Note You can move, swap, and copy signal mappings when editing them in the Signal Mappings tab of a Signal Map dialog box. See Moving, Swapping, and Copying Signal Mappings. |
| Connector Faceview Panel | Enables you to select and display a connector faceview symbol. |
| Connector | Select the connector for which you want to open a faceview symbol. |
| Harness tab | You can view a faceview symbol for a connector. See Viewing Connector Faceview Symbols in Signal Maps. Note The tab is tearable and can be dragged away from its position in the dialog box so that it displays in its own separate window. | Symbol | Select the comment symbol that you want to use as the faceview. Each item in the list consists of a symbol library name and symbol name. If the connector has a library part with associated faceview symbols in Capital Component Manager, the panel offers these symbols for selection. Note A faceview symbol is created as a comment symbol with pins in Capital Symbol Designer. If the library part does not have associated faceview symbols in Capital Component Manager, the panel searches for symbols (with the same name as the connector part number) in the symbol libraries specified in the “Connector View Libraries” project preference for Capital Systems Integrator. |
| Show all cavity names Hide all cavity names | You can toggle the display of connector cavity datum names in the faceview window. Note There must be RED (related entity datum) type cavity names defined in the symbol to display cavity names. |
| Faceview window | Displays the selected comment symbol. Note If you have a refined connector and therefore multiple faceviews, the displayed faceview symbol changes accordingly based on the connector cavity selection as part of the cross-highlighting. |
| OK | Closes the dialog box. Unavailable if any wires are unmapped. |
