Merging Insulation Runs

The merge process uses a set of criteria to decide whether the insulation(s) on the selected bundle on the member design and the target bundle on the merged design are equal, similar or different.

The process treats insulation runs as one entity which can be merged only if all insulation layers within it can be merged.

Equal

The merge process classes both objects as Equal when all of the following are satisfied:

  • Both insulation runs cover the same bundle.

  • The insulation part number are the same.

  • Insulation layer type (Overlap Tape, Spiral Tape, Tube) is the same.

  • Insulation layers (in order) are the same. For example, if the member and merged design have the following insulation layers, the process will treat them as equal and merge them: Layer 10- Type: Spiral - Part number PN1

Layer 20 - Type: Tube - Part number PN2

However, in the following scenario, the process will not treat them as equal and they cannot be merged: Layer 10

  • Type: Tube - Part number PN2

Layer 20- Type: Spiral - Part number PN1

Similar

The merge process classes both objects as Similar in the following situation:

  • The part number, type of each layer in order and number of layers are the same (part number drives most of the attributes) but there are differences in attributes which are not driven by the given part number (for example distance between items, number of turns and so on).
