Capital Integrator is the topological (physical) design tool in the Capital electrical/electronic systems design suite. It is used to define the physical implementation of a wiring system — harness routing, connectors, devices, splices, and wiring — and associates that topological design with the logical design (schematic) created in tools such as Capital Systems Capture or Capital Logic.
Key concepts introduced in this chapter:
- Logical Design Association — the topological design created in Integrator is linked ("associated") to a logical design. This association lets Integrator inherit connectivity, pin, and signal information from the logical design, and lets logical design changes be reflected in the topological design. Associations can be replaced (re-pointed to a different logical design) using the
IntegratorSyncInstanceproperty to match devices between old and new designs. - Extensibility Plugins / Custom Action Plugins — Integrator supports plugin-based extensibility, including custom actions that can be invoked from within the application to extend or customize workflows.
- Object Model Integrity — mechanisms that maintain consistency of the underlying design object model as edits are made.
- Launching Capital Library / Capital Symbol from this Application — Integrator can launch the companion Capital Library and Capital Symbol applications directly for managing parts libraries and symbols.
- Diagram Language Translation — support for translating diagram text/labels between languages.
- Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) — formal change-tracking workflow support within Integrator.
- Harness Concurrency — support for multiple users/processes concurrently working on harness data.
- Metrics — reporting/measurement capabilities for design data.
