Editing a Shared Port List

You can add ports to and remove ports from the shared object definition of a shared function and you can rename a port in the shared object definition of a shared function.

Prerequisites

  • The shared function that you want to edit the shared port list of must already exist in the project. See Promoting a Function to a Shared Function.

Procedure

  1. Right-click the shared function that you want to edit the shared port list of and select Edit Shared Function.The Edit Shared Function Dialog Box displays.

  2. Determine the action you want to take: If you want to...

Do the following:

Add a port

Select either the Ports tab or the Associate Ports tab.

Click New. The Add Shared Ports Dialog Box displays.

Specify the Port Name Prefix, Start Index and No of Ports, then click OK in the Add Shared Ports dialog box.

Click OK.

Remove a port

Select either the Ports tab or the Associate Ports tab.

Select the port you want to remove in the Shared Object list.

Click Delete.

Click OK.

Note You can only remove ports that are not placed on an instance of the shared object. If you remove all instances of a port that are placed on instances of the shared object, you cannot remove the port from the shared port list until the design has been saved.

Rename a port

Select either the Ports tab or the Associate Ports tab.

Select the port you want to rename in the Shared Object list.

Click Rename. The Rename Port dialog box displays.

Specify the new name, then click OK in the Rename Port dialog box.

Click OK.
