DRC Error Messages

If the order matching is invalid, the “Validate node component graphics layering” DRC displays the following messages in the Design Rule Checks Output window.

See also how tooltips and icons identify invalid order matching in the Set Layer Order Dialog Box.

Order Matching Error

“Diagram appearance at node {N5} does not match the components layer number order”

The intersections of the component graphics with the y axis, on at least one side of the bundle, conflict with the layer order of the components.

Missing

Intersection at Node Error

“Graphics intersections for Node Multi Location Component {MLC3} at node {N2} cannot be determined. Layer ordering cannot be verified”

The DRC could not begin the check because the component graphic polygon is not intersected at the node by the y axis to the bundle. The order of the component graphics cannot be determined on at least one side of the bundle.

Note

If only one of the bundles has an insulation terminating at the junction node, this bundle is selected for the bundle direction and the check proceeds without this error.

Missing

Polygon Error

“Cannot find polygon for Multi Location Component {MLC3} at node {N2}. Layer ordering cannot be verified”

The DRC could not begin the check because the component graphic does not contain a polygon shape.

Figure 287: Example Missing Polygon Error

Multiple

Bundle Error

“Multiple bundles exist at node {N8}. Layer ordering cannot be verified”

No particular bundle can be selected at a junction node to determine the bundle direction and therefore, any intersections on the y axis.

Figure 288: Example Multiple Bundle Error

Missing

Layer Number Error

“Multi Location Component {MLC5} at node {N2} has no layer number defined. Layer ordering cannot be verified”

One, or several components in the stack have a default Layer value “0”.

Multiple

MLC Error

“Multiple Multi-location components are placed at node {N7}. Layer ordering cannot be verified”

More than one MLC is present at the node.

Component

Node Outside of Polygon Error

“Node {N1} is outside of the polygon for {Clip C1}. Layer ordering cannot be verified”

The DRC could not begin the check because the component node is outside at least one component polygon.
