Using Nested Production Modules
You can use the Cut and Paste actions to create a hierarchy of production module code folders in the PM module browser to match the assemblies and the dependent sub-assemblies required to manufacture sections of the harness.
Restrictions and Limitations
You cannot cut and paste PM codes if the View Module Content action () is activated in the PM Module Browser.
If a PM code folder contains Production Technical Variant codes, you cannot cut the folder or paste a new PM code into the folder. See also the “Production Technical Variations” section in the Nested Production Module Codes Overview. You must delete all the Production Technical Variant codes, add any new PM codes, and then regenerate all the possible variants from the updated parent PM code in the folder tree. See also Generating Production Technical Variations.
You cannot create nested production modules using PM codes with exclusive relationships to other PM codes in the same hierarchy. See also Defining Inclusive and Exclusive Relationships for Module Codes.
Prerequisites
- You have created and associated components to the Production Module codes: Creating a Functional, Production or Technical Module Code at Project Level.
Adding Content to the PM Browser.
- The PM Codes tab (module browser) is selected.
Procedure
Determine the action you want to take:
| If you want to... | Do the following... |
|---|---|
| Move one or more PM codes under a PM code to build a hierarchy. | Right-click the PM codes to move and select Cut (Ctrl+X). The PM code names are displayed with a strike through. Right-click the target PM code and select Paste (Ctrl+V). The PM code icon changes to identify that the PM code is a parent PM code folder (). The PM codes are nested under the parent PM code. |
| Remove one or more PM codes from a PM code folder to the root PM code list. | Right-click the PM codes to remove and select Cut (Ctrl+X). The PM code names are displayed with a strike through. Right-click white space in the PM module browser and select Paste (Ctrl+V). The PM codes are listed alphanumerically in the root of the PM code list. |
| View and edit the components in the PM codes. | Open the Production Module Explorer. Drag and drop a PM code from the PM module browser to the Production Module Explorer. The components associated with the PM code are listed in the Details table. If the PM code contains one or more nested PM codes, the components in the nested PM codes are also listed. Use the Production Module Explorer to view and edit the components in the PM codes. See Adding Content to the PM Browser |
Results
A folder tree of the nested PM codes is displayed in the PM module browser.
