Change Impact
- Interactive / Design Compare Tab
To access: From the Workflow ribbon, click the Change Impact dropdown list and select Change Impact - Interactive or Change Impact - Design Compare.
Used to identify impacted child designs if you modify a composite design or compare two revisions of a composite design. You can select the modified design objects to identify the corresponding impacted child designs, and then choose to revise the designs.
The tab is displayed in the Output window at the bottom of the application, or as a dialog box if you press Ctrl when you invoke the action. See also “Using Tearable Tabs” in the Capital Design Tools - Common Functions User Guide.
Note
The Interactive and Design Compare actions may display the same modifications in a different way in the object columns; however, the design data is the same and will not affect which objects are updated during composite breakdown.

Objects
| Field | Description |

| Filter Popup | Hover over the header on each column to display () symbol. Click to open the Filter Popup to configure visibility and filtering on the column. Note The () symbol remains pinned to the column header if you have applied a filter on the column. Optional. |
| Added Objects | Lists the icon, location node, and name of design objects that are added in an open composite design or deleted in a compared composite design. |
| Deleted Objects | Lists the icon and name of design objects that are deleted in an open composite design or added in a compared composite design. |
| Modified Objects | Lists the icon and name of design objects if the attributes / properties of objects are modified, or objects that are associated by connectivity are affected by changes in an open or compared composite. For example, if you delete a connector, the disconnected wires are listed. |
| Child Designs | Name Lists the names of all the available derivative or modular child designs in the composite design when the tab is accessed. Default. Impacted Displays a “tick” () on child designs that contain design objects that have been modified in an open or compared composite design, to indicate that the child design is impacted by the change and requires revising. The “tick” is cleared if you undo (Ctrl+Z) the design changes on the diagram. Selection location Displays a “tick” () on child designs when design objects are selected on the diagram, to indicate that the child design is impacted if you modify the design object. (Only available on the Change Impact - Interactive tab). |
| View Link Content | Select to activate cross-highlighting of selected design objects on the tab with the component graphics on the diagram, to understand the location of the components on the harness. Use the Slider Control () to dim the component graphics on the diagram that are not selected. Optional. |
| Compare to | (Only available on the Change Impact - Design Compare tab, if you modify the open design) Click to refresh the comparison of two composite designs following any design modifications to the open composite design. Any additional design objects and impacted child designs are displayed on the tab. The name of the composite design you are comparing the open design to, is displayed to the right of the button. Optional. |
| Revise Impacted Designs | (Only enabled if impacted child designs are identified) Click to open the Revise Impacted Designs Dialog Box, to choose which impacted child designs to revise. Optional. |
| Close | Click to close the dialog box or remove the tab from the Output window. |
Usage Notes
Click and drag the Change Impact - Design Compare tab, to undock and move the dialog box. Click the Close icon () to re-dock the dialog box in the Output window.
Click the column headers to sort the rows according to the content in the column.
Select or multi-select design objects in the columns, to highlight the corresponding child designs that are impacted by the changes.
Select or multi-select impacted child designs to highlight the corresponding modified design objects in the object columns.
The Added, Deleted, and Modified columns update dynamically if you apply modifications to the composite design, and clear if you undo (Ctrl+Z) the design changes.
