Capital Harness Designer Modular > Variant Production Module Generation
Configuring Production Technical Variations
You can configure how Production Technical Variations are generated, including how they are named.
Procedure
Open Project Preferences and select Capital Harness Designer > Technical Module Code Assignation > Production Variation.
The Production Technical Variations Project Preferences are displayed. Figure 443: Production Technical Variations Preferences in the Project Preference DialogSpecify the Max number of combinations before failure. This is the maximum number of technical variations to be created per combination when running Variant Module Generation. Default = 64.
Configure the PM Variant Naming. A preview shows you the result of your configuration.
Specify the Prefix to use for all automatically generated Production Technical Variations. Default = "VPM-". Forward slash "/" is not supported in this field.
Specify the Separator to use before the numeric counter or the character sequence. Default = "-". The separator can be empty. Forward slash "/" is not supported in this field.
Choose a counter:
Numeric Counter — Specify the minimum number of digits (default = 2), the starting number (default = 1), and the amount to increment each time (default = 1).
or
Character Sequence — Specify a comma-separated sequence of upper case characters. Each character is used in turn. When the end of the sequence is reached, the first character in the list will be added as a prefix. The sequence is therefore A, B, C... Y, Z, AA, AB and so on. Default = "A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,J,K,L,M,N,P,Q,R,S,T,U,V,W,X,Y,Z" (note, no "I" or "O").Configure the Single Function Variant Naming. A preview shows you the result of your configuration.
Specify the Prefix to use for all automatically generated Single Function Production Variants. Default = "VSF-". Forward slash "/" is not supported in this field.
Specify the Separator to use before the Functional Modular Code. Default = "-". The separator can be empty. Forward slash "/" is not supported in this field.
Results
- The preview illustrates how the PM Variants and the Single Function Variants will be named when you automatically generate technical variations.
Examples
Example 1: the Minimum Number of Digits has been set to 2, the sequence start is 1, and the increment is 1. The sequence is therefore 01, 02, 03... 98, 99, 100, 101 and so on.
Figure 444: Numeric Counter Example 1
Example 2: the Minimum Number of Digits has been set to 4, the sequence start is 10, and the increment is 10. The sequence is therefore 0010, 0020, 0030... 9980, 9990, 10000, 10010 and so on. The separator field is empty, so there is no separator before the counter.

Example 3: each character in the specified sequence will be used in turn. When the end of the sequence is reached, it starts again using the first character as a prefix. The sequence is therefore A, B, C... Y, Z, AA, AB and so on. The specified separator is "_".
