Details Generation Method Constraint

Cavity details combination generation can be further refined using the Set Cavity Details Generation Method constraint, which enables the processing modes to be configured to identify wire combinations and make part selections based on derivative/module designs, or module codes on the wires or just the wire combinations present in a cavity.

The following processing methods can be selected:

  • All Combinations Method

  • Wire and FMC Driven Note When the constraint is set against a design, any cavity component part selections made through the wizard when Processing a Harness Design, or by pressing Space Bar and entering Cavity Components, will respect the constraint settings.

All Combinations Method

With the constraint configured to use this mode, a cavity detail row is generated, and part selections made for all possible combinations of wires in a cavity.

Figure 161, shows a simple example where two wires present in Cavity 1, generate three cavity/wire combinations.

Wire and FMC Driven

The number of combinations generated is constrained by the functional module codes (and their relationships.

Figure 162, shows the same example as Figure 161, but with the constraint set to use Wire and FMC Driven selection. The two wires in Cavity 1 have exclusive module codes on them which generate two cavity/wire combinations.

Note

Other relationships such as inclusive, mandatory and mutually exclusive are also honoured.

Constraint Format and Definition

The constraint is displayed in the following format:

Generate all possible cavity details with number of wires less than or equals Limit using Generation Method.

Use Limit to specify the maximum number of wires in a cavity that the routine will run on. If the limit is exceeded, selection is not run on that cavity and the issue is reported in the DRC Results field.

Note

If all the wires present have single, mutually exclusive codes specified, the limit on the combination calculation constraint does not apply, and the system will generate all combinations. For example, 20 wires all with exclusive codes, will generate 21 combinations, one for each wire and one for a plug (no wire).

Use Generation Method to specify the method in which the constraint will run, either All Combinations Method or Wire and FMC Driven.

For example:

Generate all possible cavity details with number of wires less than or equals 3 using Wire and FMC Driven

This will identify cavities with three wires or fewer and run the Wire and FMC Driven selection routine.

Constraint Customization

You can customize the constraint, for example to make selection based on data driven criteria to create its own combination per cavity. For more information about customizing and loading custom constraints, see the PluginDevelopment.pdf file located in the doc\plugin folder of your Capital installation. Once custom constraints are loaded into the applications, you use them in the same way as standard constraints. An object/design can have both standard and custom constraints defined for it. Only one constraint, either custom or standard, can be used at any one time.
