Override Nominal Origin Segment for Bundle and Insulation Decorations

You can use this functionality to automatically override default style settings and re-position Bundle, Insulation Layer or Insulation Run decorations, using a different bundle segment as an origin segment.

The default placement of such decorations on multi-segment bundles is determined by the Origin Segment style setting. The setting enables you to configure the display of the decoration to use either the longest or center most bundle segment as its origin segment, as shown in Figure 141.

Figure 141: Origin Segment Setting

You can override this setting and automatically re-position decorations by invoking the Change Origin Segment action, and then selecting a different bundle segment to use as the decoration’s nominal origin. Figure 142 shows the result of using this action to reposition decorations.

Any manual changes, such as offsets or rotations for example, that you have made to decorations are preserved when they are moved.

You can also make such manual changes to re-positioned decorations and exclude them from Apply Style and Update Border actions using the Fix action.

Decorations can be automatically returned to their default style set determined positions using the Reset Default Origin Segment action.

This video demonstrates the functionality.

Change Origin Segment

The action is invoked by right-clicking one of the objects listed below, and selecting Override Styling > Change Origin Segment.

The menu item is only enabled when one or more objects of the same type are selected, for example, it is not active if you have multi-selected a bundle decoration and an insulation layer decoration.

Note

For each object type below, all decorations belonging to the selected object are re-positioned when using the action.

  • To override all Bundle decoration positions for the selected bundle, right-click: A segment of the bundle.

Reset

Default Origin Segment

The action is invoked by right-clicking an overridden object and selecting Override Styling > Reset Default Origin Segment

The menu item is only enabled when one or more objects of the required type have been overridden. You can multi-select objects of differing type and reset them at the same time.

The methods of selecting decorations for reset is the same as the list for “Change Origin Segment”, with the following addition:

  • To reset all Insulation Run decoration positions to default for the required run, you can also right-click the insulation run in the Harness Design browser.

Note

You can multi-select objects of differing type and reset them at the same time.

Once selected, all decorations for the selected object type return to their default positions.
