Administering Domains, Roles and Users
License Policy
A license policy is a sub-set of enabled, add-on licenses. A license can be included in multiple policies. You assign license policies to user accounts or user groups. The licenses included in the policy are made available to the individual user account, or all user accounts included a user group.
Restriction
For Capital X deployments, license policy functionality is not supported.
A license can be checked out (used) by a user account only if it is included in any of the user groups to which the user belongs, or if it is included on the user account directly.
Note
A user group or user account with no assigned license policies is allowed to use all licenses that are available in your installation.
If you do not create license policies and assign them to user accounts or groups, all users will be able to use all available add-on licenses.
The high-level flow for implementing license polices is as follows:
Create license policies. See “Creating and Editing a License Policy”.
Assign license policies to user groups, or directly to a user account. See Assigning and Editing License Policies in a User Group, or Assigning and Editing License Policies on a User Account Any changes to the assigned policies apply to a user from the group when they next log into an application.
The video provides an example of creating license policies and assigning them to appropriate user groups in order to manage the checking out of licenses for particular users.
Note
You can view which licenses can be used (checked out) by a particular user. See Viewing Allowed Licenses for a User Account.
