Insulation > Usage Example - Drawing Insulation Line-styles in Capital Harness Designer

Stage 2: Defining the Line-Style in harnessLineStyles.xml

You can define the line-style in the /config/harnessLineStyles.xml file. You define it between a tag.

1 - indicates the line-style name that will appear in the style set later.

2 - indicates the end cap glyph used at the start of the insulation layer.

3 - indicates the glyph to be repeated along the insulation run until it reaches the node of the insulation.

4 - indicates the end cap glyph used at the end of the insulation layer.

5 - indicates the glyph used at an elbow on the insulation layer.

6 - indicates the name of the glyph to be used on each pattern.

Note

Restart Capital Harness Designer after each edit of the harnessLineStyles.xml file.

End Cap Compression

End cap glyphs are the part of the insulation linestyle at the ends of the run.

The end caps change size according to the length of the run to ensure the repeating pattern looks consistent along the length of the run.

Where the insulation linestyle has no repeating pattern defined, or where the repeating pattern is empty, you can add the “compression=false" parameter to the definition of the end-pattern in the linestyles.xml file. This prevents compression of the end caps and also stops the end cap glyph being hidden from view, for example, when placed close to an elbow.

Where a repeating pattern is present and the end cap glyph is not close to an elbow, any end cap glyph compression parameter is ignored in order to preserve the consistent appearance of the linestyle throughout its length

Figure 239: Compression Parameter

End caps are compressed if the parameter is set to “true” or is not present.
