Add Ring Terminal Dialog Box

To access: Press Space Bar and enter Ring Terminal (requires click to place on design).

Used to add a ring terminal to a design.

Objects

Field	Description
General Tab
Name	A unique label for the ring terminal (within this design). Type a name, or click the ellipsis (...) button to the of the field to select from a list of pre-specified names maintained in the project’s Object Type Information in Capital Project Manager. If you do not enter anything in this field, the ring terminal is named according to any default name configured for the project in Capital Project Manager. Optional.
Short Description	Automatically displays the Short Description field associated with the selected name for the ring terminal if it is already defined in Capital Project Manager. If no predefined information exists, you can enter and edit the Short Description. This attribute is available for use in styling and for search queries. Optional.
Library Part	Specifies an association with a ring terminal part number in the library. Select the required library part number type (Internal, Customer, or Supplier) and click the ellipsis (...) button. The Part Selection Dialog Box is displayed to search for and insert a ring terminal from the library. You can view details for the associated part by clicking the button. The associated part can be removed by clicking the button. Optional.
Assembly	Specifies if the ring terminal is part of an assembly. Read-only.
BOM ID	Specifies a unique identifier to be displayed against the component in the Bill of Materials table, the Composite BOM table and in Bill of Material reports generated from Capital E/E Reporter. This attribute is only available when a library part is assigned. Optional. BOM IDs can be automatically prefixed in tables and reports based on project preferences you have configured.
Color Code	Specifies the color of the ring terminal. Either type a color code into the field, or select a code from the dropdown list. Optional.
Color Description	Details the color code specified. Read-only.
Datum	Specifies the point within the ring terminal to which terminating wires should have their lengths measured. The default datum selection is specified for the harness design in the Edit Harness Details Dialog Box, but can be changed to Back, Front, or Tip. Term. Mandatory.
Group Name	The Group Name to which this component belongs. Read-only.
Harness	Used for mapping Capital Logic Designer objects to Capital Harness Designer harnesses during synchronization. See Specifying the Harness Attribute for an Object in the Capital Logic Designer User Guide. Default is the current harness design name. Enter a new name, or click the ellipsis (...) button to select from a list of pre-specified harness names maintained in the project’s Object Type Information in Capital Project Manager. Optional.
Included On BOM	Specifies whether the ring terminal should be ignored when generating a bill of materials (cleared) or whether it should be included (selected). Also applies to any components associated with this one, see Included On BOM Setting. Optional.
Is Primary Position	Specifies that this ring terminal is the original ring terminal instance from which one or more variant position ring terminals have been created. Read‑only.
Material Code	Specifies the material from which the ring terminal is made. Select a material code from the dropdown list. Optional.
Material Description	Details the material code specified. Read-only.
MCad ID	If the harness was bridged in from another application (such as Capital Harness Classic or an MCAD application), this field displays the component's unique identifier as derived from the external data. Read-only.
Number of Cavities	Ring terminals only have one cavity. Mandatory.
Part Description	Provides a description of the part. Read-only.
Primary Position Object	If this is a variant position ring terminal, this field specifies the Name of the primary ring terminal, of which this is a variant. Read-only.
Sealed	Specifies that the ring terminal's cavity should be sealed. Optional.
Terminal Material	Specifies the terminal material to be selected for all of the ring terminal’s cavity during Cavity Component Management. Select a material code from the dropdown list. Optional.
Type Code	Offers a list of component type codes, as maintained in Capital Component Manager, which can be used to filter the selection of components displayed when searching for a ring terminal using the Part Selection Dialog Box. Optional.
Type Description	Details the type code specified. Read-only.
Unit of Measure	Details the unit of measurement used. Read-only.
Weight	Enter the weight of the component. Optional.
Option Expression	Specifies the options associated with the ring terminal. To create or edit an option expression, click the ellipsis (...) button to the of the field and use the Edit Option Expression Dialog Box. Alternatively, you can enter or modify an option expression directly within the field. Optional.
User FM Codes	(This field is only available for Capital Harness Designer Modular see “User/Generated FM/PM Fields”)

Properties Tab	See Properties Tab Dialog Box.
Routes Tab	Use this tab to select any route that you have configured against this ring terminal part number in Capital Component Manager. Any addon or knock off values specified for the route (on the component Dressed Routes tab in Capital Component Manager) will be used by the harness engineering process when calculating the length of wires terminating at this dressed ring terminal. See also “Dressed Ring Terminals” in the Capital Component Manager User Guide.
Node	The start and end node of the bundle that terminates at the ring terminal.
Route	If a Library Part is associated with the ring terminal, you can select any route you have configured against that part from the dropdown list. If no Library Part is associated, you can manually add a name for the route. Optional.
Additional Components Tab	See Additional Components Tab Dialog Box

Usage Notes

If a library part is selected, all attributes for which values can be specified against the library part are completed and set to read-only.
