Module Code
Assignation Configuration Dialog Box
This topic describes both the Functional Module Code Assignation Configuration and the Production Module Code Assignation Configuration dialog boxes. To access:
Select Assign Function Module Codes or Assign Production Module Codes from the Automate > Modules ribbon.
Use the Ctrl+Alt+Shift+F or Ctrl+Alt+Shift+R keyboard shortcut.
Right-click a specific object and select Modular > Assign Functional Module Codes or Modular > Assign Production Module Codes.
Press Space Bar and enter Assign Function Module Codes or Assign Production Module Codes.
Used to configure how the assignation routine should analyze objects on the design to assign module codes, and if necessary, create technical module codes, combinations, and assignments where required.
Description
The action performs functional / production module assignation on all, or the selected objects. If no objects are selected prior to invoking the dialog box, the process runs functional / production module assignation on all valid objects on the active design.
You can use the dialog box to override the default system assignation and instead choose a custom assignation plugin.

Objects
| Field | Description |

| Assignation Plugin Check Box | This check box and its associated dropdown list display only when valid assignation plugins are loaded. See also, Extensibility Plugins in the Capital Design Tools - Common Functions User Guide for information about creating and loading plugins. Displays cleared by default unless a plugin is configured against the open design. When you select the check box: The dropdown list becomes enabled and you can choose the required plugin. All the rows in the table are dimmed because assignation is now controlled by the selected plugin. See the tooltip in Figure 477. |
| Plugin Dropdown Selector | Enabled only when the Assignation Plugin Check Box is selected. Select the plugin you want to use to override the default assignation process. The list is automatically filtered to display only functional or production assignation plugins that you have configured. |
| Object | This column details the available objects on the design that you have selected for module code assignation. Note: Some objects have mandatory additional entries that must be completed. For example when connector objects are selected, an additional row, Multi-Crimp, is automatically displayed to determine how to process wires that are terminated together. |
| Standard | This assignation routine analyzes the codes on the wires either terminating at, or passing through the object. If a number of wires all have the same code, the object will also be assigned that code. If multiple wires exist with multiple codes that are mutually exclusive, the object is assigned to each of the codes. For example, where objects exist on either right-hand drive or left-hand drive modular child / parent harnesses. If multiple codes exist where one is inclusive of the other then the object is assigned to the pre-requisite code as the other code cannot exist on its own. |
| Mandatory Only | It is typical that certain wires will always be present in the modular parent harness and each of its child derivatives. This wiring is assigned codes that are tagged with “Mandatory.” The assignation routine analyzes the mandatory tags on these wires and assigns the same code to objects associated with the wire. If multiple mandatory codes exist when analyzed against the connector, they must be marked as mutually exclusive for automatic assignation to complete. | Mandatory Factor | Not applicable for production module code assignation. Where wiring with multiple codes exists at a component and the codes have no relationships or mandatory tags then the assignation factor is used to determine which code to assign the component. The code with the highest assignation factor will be used. See also “Functional and Production Module Code Maintenance”. |
| Technical | Where wiring with multiple codes exists at a component, and the codes have no relationships the system will create and assign new Technical codes to the component that correspond to each of the potential code combinations. Certain components, such as multi-crimp, can only be assigned technical codes, as they could be applied to a number of connectors that exist on mutually exclusive designs. | OK | Click to close the dialog box and run the configured assignation process. The Output window displays details of the results. |

Where you have configured a design level constraint to control assignation for individual objects, as in Figure 480 (see Assigning a Rule or Constraint to an Object or Design in the Capital Design Tools - Common Functions User Guide).
