Multi-terminations
A multi-termination is any connectivity pattern where a single pin doesn't map to a single, simple net-to-pin relationship. Connectivity Hub supports three use cases:
- Multiple nets connecting to the same pin.
- One net connecting to multiple pins.
- Loopback — a pin connecting back to another pin on the same device/component.
Prerequisite
To map multi-terminations, connectivity must first be synthesized on the component — multi-termination mapping works on synthesized connectivity, the same way ordinary pin mapping does.
Adding multi-termination connectivity: the Interface Map
Multi-terminations are set up via the Edit Interface Map action:
- Add signal(s)/message(s) to the Interface Map.
- Specify the interface and carrier.
- The updated Interface Map provides additional connectivity, which can then be mapped to pins.
Multi-terminations are identified in the pin list with a dedicated icon, so they're visually distinguishable from ordinary one-to-one pin mappings once added.
Visualizing and saving multi-terminations
- Visualizing component connectivity displays multi-terminations directly.
- Saving the component as an ICD respects multi-terminations — an ICD correctly records multiple nets defined on the same pin rather than collapsing them.
- In a schematic, multi-terminations result in a single net — i.e. the multiple logical connections captured in the ICD render as one physical net in the schematic view, which is expected and not a data-loss issue.
