Overview of Capital Schematic Generator for Logic Designer
Use Capital Schematic Generator for Logic Designer facility to create functional or wiring diagrams based on an existing set of connectivity with specified constraints, instead of manually placing components.
When you generate the diagrams, you can define how objects are styled, and whether you want to use existing diagrams from another project as a template (or prototype). If a design (for which diagrams have to be generated) and the template are revisions of the same design, connectivity objects (devices, conductors, and so on) are matched by revisions. Otherwise, connectivity objects are matched by name.
Capital Schematic Generator for Logic Designer can be invoked:
As a single action directly from Capital E/E Publisher to import a project XML file and bulk generate a diagram for each design. In this case, you can select the border and style preferences to be applied to all diagrams to be generated (one per design). If a design has a diagram already, no new diagram will be generated. See Importing a Project and Generating Diagrams for more information.
For an existing Capital E/E Publisher design, regardless of whether diagrams exist already or not. You select the layout and style preferences applicable to all diagrams to be generated. See Generating Filtered Diagrams for a Design.
For a specific Capital E/E Publisher project, regardless of whether diagrams exist already or not. A filtering option is available so you can interactively paginate a set of design connectivity into multiple diagrams, and apply a project-based style preference set against each. See Generating Diagrams for a Project.
Notes on the Creation of Diagrams
When Capital Schematic Generator for Logic Designer created diagrams, it treats different types of object in various ways.
Shared Pin Lists
When a pin list appears more than once in the connectivity, it is promoted to a shared object when the diagrams generate. When a pin list in the connectivity is already shared, the pins of that shared pin list are made unrestricted. This action occurs any time Capital Schematic Generator for Logic Designer is used to create a filtered diagram in which:
A diagram already exists within that design.
Any of the same entities are reused as part of the filter operation, to produce a new diagram.
Device Symbols
You can choose whether device symbols in the design are retained and displayed on the generated diagram using the associated symbols in the symbol library. See “Use device symbols” in Specifying Layout Styling When Generating Diagrams in the Capital Logic Designer User Guide for all the available options when generating device symbols.
Note
In the Query and Generate flow, if all of the filtered pins have a unique symbol associated with them, then in the generated diagram, the tool attempts to generate the corresponding complete symbol(s), depending on the distribution of the pins and the schematic generation constraints.
However, if a filtered pin has multiple symbols associated with it, the tool will not attempt to generate any symbol corresponding to the filtered pins. In such a scenario, it creates a parameterized device object instead.
Tree Type Connections
When a device has a tree type connection (logical or physical) to another device without other connectivity relationships, the path between the devices is the shortest path available. This minimizes the crossing over of conductors, maximizes the balancing of white space, and reduces net jogs. Additionally, two new layout style settings optimize the way that the tree connectivity appears.
When complex loops occur within the design connectivity, Capital Schematic Generator for Logic Designer ensures:
Minimum conductor cross over.
No device collisions.
Even device distribution, in both the horizontal and vertical planes.
