Adding an Instance of
a Shared Message
You can add an instance of a shared message to a diagram.
Prerequisites
- The shared message that you want to add an instance of must already exist in the project. See Promoting a Message to a Shared Message.
Procedure
- In the Shared Objects Browser Window either:Right-click the shared message you want to add an instance of and select Add Shared Message.
Double-click the message signal you want to add a instance of.
The cursor changes to .
Click where you want to place the first end of the message.
Define sections of the message by clicking where you want each section to end.
Place the end point of the message either by double-clicking or by clicking once then right-clicking and selecting Commit.
Results
- The shared object instance is added to the diagram.
Note
When you create more than one instance of a shared object, cross-references are displayed next to the instances in the diagrams. See Cross-References on Objects for more information about cross-references.
