Module Code Dialog Box

To access:

  • In Capital Harness Designer Modular — select the Functional Module Codes or Production Module Codes action from the Capital Data ribbon.

  • In Capital Project Manager — expand the Module Code Maintenance folder (either in the system tree or in a project tree), and double-click the Functional or Production node.

Used to define module codes and their relationships either at system level, or within a project. The dialog box title displays as either Project Functional Module Codes or Project Production Module Codes.

Objects

Field Icon Description
Module Code Browser Located to the left of the dialog box. Blank when no module codes exist. Displays a tree of module codes (), mandatory codes are indicated by the “tick” on the icon (). Also displays technical, generated and obsolete module codes (), grouped within user defined module code folders () and system generated module code folders (). When you edit module codes at project level, module code combinations () are listed too. The tree also displays a list of all Variant Functional Module Codes or Variant Production. Module Codes When you select a module code folder, module code combination, or module code in the tree, details for the selected item are displayed in fields to the right of the dialog box. You can drag and drop items in the tree: Change their order. Dragging a module or folder to a space between two other items moves it to that position. Dropping a module code or folder over another folder adds it as the last child node of that folder. This order of module code folders and module codes determines the order of the codes when they are listed in other dialog boxes in Capital applications. Add a module code to a module code combination. The module code is copied in the tree.
Filter Located at the bottom of the Module Code browser panel. Enter alphanumeric text to dynamically filter the list of codes to display only the ones containing your search text. Codes in folders (and sub-folders) are included in the filtering. You must open any non-expanded folder to see the filtered code. The filter matches the text anywhere in the code: For example, if you enter “2”, the filtering displays all codes containing “2”, such as “PM21” “22222” or “PM332”. You can use regular expressions for complex pattern matching: If your search text contains special characters, such as a bracket ‘(‘, you must use the backslash ‘\’ escape character. For example, to filter on code “A(B)”, you must enter “A(B)”. Note When you enter text into the filter, all editing functionality on the right-hand side of the dialog box is automatically dimmed. You must clear the filter text () to enable editing functionality. When you clear the filter, the full list is re-displayed. Any code you had selected in the tree remains selected and the list is automatically scrolled so that your selection remains visible.
Delete Selected Objects Deletes the module code folders, module code combinations, and module codes that are selected in the Module Code browser. The system checks that the selection does not contain codes that are in use to ensure that they are not automatically removed from any design objects.
Create a New Functional Module Code Creates a new functional module code in the Module Code browser. If a folder or module code is selected in the tree, the new module code is added below it. You cannot add a module code below a module code combination.
Create a New Technical Module Code (Functional level) Creates a new technical module code at the functional level, in the Module Code browser. If a folder or module code is selected in the tree, the new module code is added below it. You cannot add a module code below a module code combination.
Create a New Production Module Code Creates a new functional module code in the Module Code browser. If a folder or module code is selected in the tree, the new module code is added below it. You cannot add a module code below a module code combination.
Create a New Technical Module Code (Production level) Creates a new technical module code at the production level, in the Module Code browser. If a folder or module code is selected in the tree, the new module code is added below it. You cannot add a module code below a module code combination.
Purge Module Codes Checks for module codes unused in the selected project or design. If any are found the Select Unused Codes For Removal Dialog Box is displayed.
Create a new Variant Functional Module Code Enabled when the Variant Functional Module Code folder, or one of its codes is selected. Creates a new variant functional module code in the Variant Functional Module Code folder in the Module Code browser. Add a valid Name and Description in the right-hand panel of the dialog box.
Create a new Variant Production Module Code Enabled when the Variant Production Module Code folder, or one of its codes is selected. Creates a new variant production module code in the Variant Production Module Code folder in the Module Code browser. Add a valid Name and Description in the right-hand panel of the dialog box.
Create a New Module Code Folder Creates a new module code folder in the Module Code browser. If a folder or module code is selected in the tree, the new folder is added below it. You cannot add a folder below a module code combination. If the folder is mandatory, you cannot add a code that has inclusive relationships defined. Similarly, you cannot make a folder mandatory if it contains codes that have inclusive relationships defined. When you create a Mandatory folder: A tick appears on its icon (). Any codes in the folder are automatically set to Mandatory. If you change a Mandatory folder to non-Mandatory: Any codes in the folder that are set to Mandatory remain set to Mandatory. You must manually change their status if required.
Create a New Module Code Combination Creates a new module code combination node in the Module Code browser. If a combination is selected in the tree, the new combination is added below it. Available only at project level.
Generated Module Code Combination Displays a system generated module code combination node in the Module Code browser. You are not able to make changes to the generated combinations, however you can delete them if required.
Sort Codes / Sort Selected Folders Sorts the selected folders and their contents alphanumerically. The resulting order is presented in all dialog boxes where the module codes are displayed. Select the root module code folder and click this button, to sort all folders and options in the tree. The sorting action behaves as follows: Each selected folder (including the root module code folder) is sorted recursively, that is, sub-folders in selected folders are also sorted. If no folder is selected, the sorting behaves as though the root module code folder is selected. If only module codes or empty folders are selected, this button is unavailable. Folders and module codes are sorted as two groups whereby folders always appear above module codes. When module code descriptions are displayed, the sorting is based on those descriptions and not on the module code names. Folders are still sorted by name.
Name Specifies the identifier for the selected module code folder, module code combination, or module code in the Module Code browser. Mandatory.
Description Specifies a descriptive string for the module code selected in the Module Code browser. Optional.
Assignation Factor Specifies an assignation factor, that is, the weighting to be applied to the module code when used for automated module assignation. The assignation factor is arbitrary and may be specified by Marketing department preferences or costing factors. Selected in the Module Code browser. Optional.
Take Rate Enter a Take Rate for the selected code in the form of a percentage between 0.00 and 99999.99. Only applicable to Functional Module Codes. The take rate on a functional module code represents the percentage of modular harnesses purchased that contain this module. Used by manufacturing engineers to indicate the relative take up of one module compared to the others.
Group Specifies particular relationships between the module codes in the folder selected in the Module Code browser. Optional, displayed only for a module code folder. The following options are available: Mutually Exclusive Indicates that none of the module codes within this folder can be selected together in a design. Mandatory Indicates that at least one of the options within this folder must be selected in a design.
Obsolete Specifies whether the module code selected in the Module Code browser is obsolete (selected) or not (cleared). An obsolete module code will not be available for selection in other applications.
Mandatory Specifies whether the module code selected in the Module Code browser is a mandatory module code (selected) or not (cleared). Unavailable if you have configured inclusive codes with the code in “Name” field. When you make a code Mandatory, a tick appears on its icon ().
Technical Specifies whether the module code selected in the Module Code browser is a technical module (selected) or not (cleared).
Inclusive Use this panel to configure inclusive code relationships for the code selected in the Name field. The panel and its controls are unavailable if the code in the Name field is marked as “Mandatory”. Codes you add to this panel must exist for the code in the Name field to exist. Additionally, if you mark a code in this panel as mutually inclusive, it means that the code in the Name field will always exist when this code exists. A “tick” on the module icon indicates a Mandatory code. Optional, displayed only for module codes at project level
Toggle Mutually Inclusive Status Click to toggle the mutually inclusive status of the selected items in the Inclusive panel with the code selected in the Name field. The Mutually Inclusive icon () displays against all codes you have configured as mutually inclusive.
Remove Inclusive Code To remove a module code from the Inclusive window, select it and click this button.
Add Inclusive Group Click to display the Choose Module Code Dialog Box where you select the module codes you want to configure in the Inclusive panel to create an inclusive group.
Add Inclusive Code(s) Click to display the Choose Module Code Dialog Box where you select the required code that you want to configure in the Inclusive panel.
Exclusive Lists the module codes that cannot be used with the module code selected in the Module Code browser. Optional, displayed only for module codes at project level. Click to display the Choose Module Code Dialog Box where you select the exclusive module codes. To remove a module code from the Exclusive window, select it and click . A “tick” on the module icon indicates a Mandatory code.
Combinations
User Defined Combination This lists the module codes that are associated by the user to create the combination. Select a node to display the Valid Combinations table where the combination relationship with the Technical Modules is defined. To remove a module code from the tree, select it and click .
Generated Combination This lists the module codes that have been automatically associated by Modules Ribbon Actions to create the combination. Select a node to display the Valid Combinations table where the combination relationship with the Technical Modules is defined. It is not possible to edit the assignation of generated combinations. To remove a module code from the tree, select it and click .
Valid Combinations Lists the module codes in the module code combination selected in the Module Code browser; each module code is a column in the table. A row represents a valid selection of the module codes. Click to add a row to the table. Click to delete a row from the table. Within a row, select the module codes that you want to be included in that valid selection. The TM Codes column specifies unique identifiers for the valid selections. Available only for module code combinations at project level.
Assign Technical Module Codes to Rows Instructs the system to create technical module codes for each row in the combination that do not already have a code.
Select Invalid Rows If changes have been made to module code relationships, this button instructs the system to select those rows that are no longer valid as a result of the changes. Click to delete these rows from the table.
Filtered View Applied Indicates that a filtered view has been applied to the combinations. It is possible, using the context menu on the code, to filter by module code or by design.
Turn Off Filtered View Turns off any filtered view that has been applied to the combinations. All available code combinations will be available for view.
