Using Projects

You can create a project from within the application. When you create a project, all project‑level data can be managed within Capital Project Manager.

You can import an existing project (as a Project XML file) that has been exported from another installation of Capital.

Procedure

Determine the action you want to take:

If you want to...	Do the following...
Create a Project	Press Space Bar and enter New Project. The New Project Dialog Box is displays. Enter a Name for the project. Click OK. The project is created and added to the Project browser.
Edit the attributes / properties of a project	Right-click the project name in the Project browser and select Edit. The Edit Project Dialog Box displays. Edit the attributes and properties as required and click OK.
Delete a Project	Caution Only delete a project if you are certain that the project is no longer needed. The deletion of a project cannot be undone. Open the project to delete. Press Space Bar and enter Delete Project. A message is displayed asking you to confirm the deletion. Click Yes to proceed and delete the project. The project is removed from the database.
Import a Project	Press Space Bar and enter Import Project. A generic file browser is displayed. Navigate to the Project XML (*.xml) file that you want to import. Click Import Project. A progress bar monitors the status of the import and disappears when complete.
Export a Project	See Exporting a Project.
Open a Project	Press Space Bar and enter Open. The Open Project Dialog Box displays. Select the project to open, and then click OK. The project is added to the Project browser.
Close a Project	Click the project in the Project browser and do either of the following: Press Space Bar and enter Close Project. Right-click the project and select Close Project. A warning prompts you to save any modified designs in the project. Click Save & Close to save the project. Click Discard & Close to not save the modified designs and close the project.
