Modifying the Composite

Bill of Materials

You can modify the contents of the composite Bill of Materials (BOM) table from within the design. The BOM table is displayed on a diagram and lists the components with library part numbers, in a composite design, broken down by the derivatives within which they exist.

You can configure the display of the table using styling (see the “Capital Diagram Styling User Guide”).

Prerequisites

Ensure you have correctly configured:

  • The Project Preferences “BOM ID Naming” and “Composite BOM”

  • The System Preference“Include non-BOM objects in BOMID generation”

Procedure

  1. Press Space Bar and enter BOM, to view the options to modify the composite BOM table:Delete IDs Removes all BOM IDs from components on the design, including both automatically generated BOM IDs and those that have been manually entered against components.

Update IDs Creates BOM IDs (based on the rules defined in the Project Preferences) for all components that do not have one and updates the table with the details.

Regenerate IDs Assigns BOM IDs to all components with associated library parts on the design and updates the BOM table to reflect the changes. The BOM IDs are generated based on the rules defined in the Project Preferences. Where a component already has a BOM ID assigned—however this was created—it is replaced. Note If the BOM IDs are regenerated, the components in the design might not be assigned their original BOM ID. The system will automatically update any diagrams that contain components with new BOM IDs.

Update Composite BOM Table Refreshes the table to display accurate BOM data. Use whenever you add new components (with associated library parts) to the design.

  1. Choose the option you require.

  2. (Optional) Select the option from the Automate ribbon:Click BOM IDs and choose one of the following options:Delete IDs
