Selecting Areas of the Nodal

Network

You can use Nodal Network Breakdown Selection to select specific areas of the vessel in the project.

You can choose from the following areas to create a unique breakdown structure that only displays a subset of the nodal network in NX:

• Decks

• Blocks (sections of the hull)

• Zones / locations (groups of areas)

• Compartment (rooms)

• Sub-section

Restrictions and Limitations

• You must select at least one area to display a subset of the nodal network. A message is displayed to prompt you if you click the Load Selected Areas action before selecting an area.

Prerequisites

• Invoke Capital Cable Router within NX. See Accessing the Embedded Capital Cable Router in NX.

• Select a project in the Project dropdown list.

• (Optional) Load the complete nodal network for the project in NX. See Loading the Nodal Network and Configuring the Display.

Procedure

1. From NX, click the Nodal Network icon ().The Nodal Network pane is displayed: Breakdown Selection — Lists the available areas of the vessel in the project, including quantities of the nodes, segments, and devices in each area.

Filter Controls — Additional filters, loaded areas information, and quick access Load Selected Areas icon.

Breakdown Configuration Settings — Options to save, load, and refresh a selected breakdown structure.

Nodal Network Details — Total loaded nodes, segments, and devices in the breakdown structure.

2. Expand Breakdown Selection.

3. Browse the Project Structure tree and choose the required areas to display in NX.Note When you select an area, any additional areas associated by hierarchy are selected automatically, for example: If you select Deck D1, located in Block B1, the block B1 is also selected. 4. (Optional) You can click the Show Loaded Areas icon () to display the following Area Status Breakdown information:Areas Loaded and Not Selected — Lists the areas in the project that are loaded in NX but not selected in the Breakdown Selection.

Areas Selected and Not Loaded — Lists the areas in the project that are selected in the Breakdown Selection but not yet loaded and displayed in NX.

Tip You can use the Show Loaded Areas action before and after you load the selected areas to NX, to identify the current loaded areas, and the impact on the nodal network if you load the selections in the Breakdown Selection.

5. Click either of the Load Selected Areas actions:
   
   
   
   Ribbon icon
   
   
   Filter Controls quick access icon

Results

• The nodal network objects associated with the selected areas are displayed in NX.

• The quantity of nodes, segments, and devices displayed are listed in the Nodal Network Details section.
