Depopulating Redundant Objects
You can use this routine to remove objects that either will not belong to any derivatives following breakdown, or any objects that have no wire or multicore attached.
Procedure
To depopulate redundant objects in the design:
Press the space bar and enter Depopulate Redundant Objects. On the Automate tab, select Processing > Depopulate Redundant Objects.The Depopulate Redundant Objects dialog box displays.

Derivative Driven — removes all objects that, following evaluation, will not appear on any derivative. Note This action is only available on a composite design that has, at least, one derivative defined. Also, running this functionality does not perform composite breakdown. Tip Applying filters includes only the wires and their related components, and avoids manually depopulating objects in the design following synchronization. Sets of option codes can be defined and stored with the target design or in the project, and can be reused during future synchronization processes. See Synchronization Rules. Wire Driven — removes all objects that have no wire or multicore attached.Click OK.
Results
If Derivative Driven was selected, the system evaluates the currently open design and then removes from it all objects that will not belong to any derivatives following composite breakdown. These are then listed in a log file.
If Wire Driven was selected:
Objects in the design that have no wire or multicore attached are deleted. Bundles with no wires or multicores are deleted, together with any objects on the bundle (insulation, clip, grommet, Other Component). Where there are bundles in a loop, those bundles with no wires are deleted. Where a Multi-Location Component (MLC) node exists on a bundle that is deleted, the MLC node is deleted. If, after deleting the MLC node, the MLC now only has one remaining node, then the MLC is deleted. Where an insulation covers two bundles, one of which is deleted, the insulation run on the remaining bundle is preserved, and its end node relocated to where the junction node with the deleted bundle used to be. Where a standard dimension has its start or end node deleted, the dimension is deleted. Where the child of a modular connector has no wire connected to it, it will be deleted. Where the child of a modular connector has a wire connected to it, that child is preserved along with its parents, even if those parents have no wire connected. Modular connector parents are never deleted if any of their children are present. If all of the children have been deleted because they had no wires connected, then the modular connector parent is also deleted. Where variant position connectors and splices are being depopulated: If all the primary position wires and variant position wires are redundant, they will all be deleted. Otherwise the primary position wires are retained (even if they are redundant), along with any valid variant position wires.
