Splice Exclusive Wires
When a signal connects to devices with exclusive options, Modular Wiring Synthesis (MWS) does not normally splice the wiring because it results in a two-wire splice in built vehicles. Synthesis normally generates a multi-term instead. However, you may want to give away such wiring and prefer a splice. You can specify that such an implementation is desired during MWS by adding a “Splice exclusive wire” constraint on a harness.
Caution
The constraint allows you to specify that exclusive options on a harness are not treated as exclusive during MWS for all or specific configurations. That means:
MWS ignores options on the harness this constraint is set on.
You may not see a splice depending on your data.
For example:
Figure 183: Splice Exclusive Wires For All Configurations Example
For the harness on the right (H1), a user decided not to give away LHD and RHD, so did not set a constraint. Synthesis has generated two independent wires, one for LHD and one for RHD.
For the harness on the left (H2), the user did decide to give away LHD and RHD and set a constraint to specify that LHD and RHD are not exclusive on that harness. The constraint was:
Treat options LHD, RHD as not exclusive during synthesis in configuration
Synthesis therefore generated a splice.
You can set the constraint so that options are spliced in specific configurations only.
Figure 184: Splice Exclusive Wires for Specific Configurations Example
In this example, the constraint was:
Treat options SWB, LWB as not exclusive during synthesis in configuration RHD.
Synthesis generated a multi-term for the LHD configuration and a splice for the RHD configuration.
Note
You can also use the constraint to handle option expressions for negated options. See Option Expressions for Negated Options.
