Deleting Design-Wide Objects

Considerations when deleting design-wide objects.

1. To delete the final instance of an object from diagrams: Select the object and delete as normal. The object no longer exists in the design data.

Select the object and press Ctrl+Delete. The object is removed from the diagram but exists as a connectivity object in the Unplaced folder for that object type in the Design Browser window. You can place the object again on a diagram. However, when you save the design, all Unplaced objects may be deleted from the design data depending on the “Purge unplaced objects on Save” selection under General Preferences in the Project Preferences. See the video in Deleting a Stacked Pin to illustrate this task. Note When you delete any instance apart from the final instance of an object from a diagram, the connectivity is retained. Its pins become unplaced and remain connected to the wires, following the existing unplace functionality.

2. To disconnect the object, select Disconnect.

3. To delete the instance of the object, delete it from the schematic diagram and then from the Design Browser.
