Managing An Object’s Properties

If the object being edited has attributes, properties are listed on a Properties tab of the Edit Properties dialog. If the object does not have attributes, there is a Properties section on the General tab of the Edit Properties dialog.

Procedure

to add a property to an object

1. Right-click on the object, and then select Properties. The Edit Properties dialog appears.

2. Click either the Properties tab, or General tab as appropriate.

3. Under the Properties section, click New. The New Property dialog appears.

4. In the Property Name box, either select a property name from the drop-down list or enter the name of a new property, and then click OK. Note The property names in the drop-down list are predefined for object types, specified when a project is defined in Capital Project Manager. See the Capital Project Manager help system for more information on creating them.

5. The property is added to the properties box. In the property's row, click the following columns to change their values: Name — the name of the property. This box cannot be edited.

Value — the value of the property. This is the value that appears with the object in the design if you tick the Visible box.

Type — the type of value that the property can have. The following options are available: String — a mixture of letters, numbers and special symbols.

Integer — a whole number.

Float — a decimal number.

Visible — check the box if you want the specified Value to be displayed with the object on the design. If style set options have been defined for the property, those options are used to define the appearance of the value. Otherwise, the Attributes defined in this table define the appearance.

Attributes — click Edit to display the Edit Text Attributes Dialog, where you can set the attributes for the Value text that appears for this property on the diagram.

6. Click OK to apply the change, and exit the dialog.

Procedure to delete a property from an object

1. Right-click on the object and select Properties; the Edit Properties dialog appears.

2. Click either the Properties tab or General tab as appropriate. Under the Properties section, select the property, and then click Delete. The property is removed from the object.

3. Click OK to apply the change and exit the dialog.
