Adding Three-Phase
Wiring With Chamfered Connections
This functionality enables the rapid authoring of multiple conductors, such as three‑phase wiring connections. You can draw conductors as a group, parallel to each other, that may include bends which need folding, or might require chamfers. This chamfering helps identify the route the conductors take as they are connected between pins.
Procedure
Click the icons on the Status Bar to toggle between Auto-routing - on, Auto-routing - off, and Three‑Phase Connection. The icon shows that Three‑Phase Connection mode is selected. This mode automatically deactivates Auto-routing functionality. This is to enable the deliberate overlapping of wiring in the design (which Auto-route does not permit).
Press the space bar and enter Multi-connect or press Ctrl+Shift+W to activate Multi‑connect mode. See also Multi-Connecting Pins.
Select the required pins and create your conductor routes.
Click to add bends in the conductor route. You can right-click during the routing process to backup a route or commit the route. Alternatively, you can press Esc to quit the operation and restart. Additional guidance is also displayed on the screen to aid routing. Press G to change the selection mode, toggling between managing individual and multiple connections.
Press C to toggle chamfer / edge bends. Tip Chamfers give a better indication of a conductor’s route than a simple “T” connection.
Press F to toggle folding of bends.
Press 1 to increase gap between the conductors.
Press 2 to decrease gap between the conductors. Tip If you arrive at your destination pins and the conductor gap is incorrect, you can press 1 or 2 to adjust as necessary.
Results
The conductors are routed on the diagram.
To add Chamfers to the conductor route after they have been created, right‑click the conductor and select Grip Point > Toggle Chamfer.
Note
Splices are not automatically generated in Three‑Phase mode when you select an existing connection as they are relatively uncommon in machinery designs.
