Cable Route Approval Overview

The cables must comply with certain rules and restrictions to transfer between the three phases of the approval process.

Order Status Description
(1) Unapproved DRCNA (Design Route Complete, Route Not Approved) All segments on the route are specified with no gaps.
(2) Approved DRCA (Design Route Complete, Route Approved) Identifies the route as correct, and that the cable complies with all restrictions that might be applied. The cable route is frozen and modifications to the cable attributes are restricted.
(3) Released DRCAR (Design Route Complete, Approved, Released) The cable is confirmed as complete and available to export to Teamcenter and link to appropriate work packages.

Cable Route Approval is only available for cables if the following restrictions are satisfied:

  • The existing cable route status must be DRCNA (Design Route Complete, Route Not Approved).

  • The Cable Type, System, and Segregation must be specified.

  • The cable must not be specified as canceled or stop work.

  • Both From and To Device must be a valid device, and not TBC (to be considered).

  • The end devices must not have the following restrictions: System with status TBC.

Area with status TBC.

Device that is canceled.

  • The From and To Off Route / Node of the cable must have been verified (unless the “Auto Verify Route on Approval” project preference on the Routing tab is selected).

  • The Design Length must be >0 and complies to any Minimum / Maximum Length restrictions.

  • The route must comply to any Routing Rules in place.

The system calculates the following rules to update the status of cables:

  • Only completed DRCNA cables can be approved.

  • Only approved DRCA cables can be unapproved.

  • Only approved cables can be released.

  • Released DRCAR cables cannot be unapproved.

  • Only released cables can be unreleased.

  • Released cables cannot be verified / unverified.
