Obsolete Wiring for a Slot, Connector, or Signal

Obsolete wiring can occur as a result of unplacing devices and uncombining devices. You can delete this obsolete wiring for a particular signal, or all signals connected to a slot or connector.

You cannot use this action to delete shield signals. If you select a mixture of non-shield signals and shield signals, only the non-shield signals are deleted. The action is not available if you select one or more shield signals (with no non-shield signals), or select a combined signal that contains one or more shield signals. When you run this action against a connector, only obsolete wiring for non-shield signals is deleted.

Note

If you want the actions for uncombining devices and unplacing devices to automatically delete any wires that become obsolete, ensure that the “Automatically delete obsolete wiring after unplace or uncombine” project preference has been selected. See Project Preferences for Capital Systems Integrator Designs in the Capital Design Tools – Common Functions User Guide.

Procedure

In the Design Browser (Design tab) at the bottom left of the application, select the slot, connector, or signal for which you want to delete obsolete wiring, and select the Delete > Delete Obsolete Wiring action on the Automate ribbon tab.

Note

You can select multiple slots, connectors, and signals.

Results

• The action deletes the obsolete wires for the slot, connector, or signal.

• The Change History tab in the Output Window reports on the deleted wires.
