Design Data Flow

You can use Capital Harness Designer LD to create and edit harness designs in new (empty) designs created in Capital Harness Designer / Modular, or designs that have been previously vaulted into the Capital database.

You cannot convert Capital data to LD data. You can only open designs from the Capital database using Capital Harness Designer LD under the following conditions:

The Capital design is empty of content.
The vaulted design was created in Capital Harness Designer LD and has never been edited in Capital Harness Designer / Modular.

Changes made to the LD data using Capital Harness Designer / Modular cannot be opened in Capital Harness Designer LD, and will be lost the next time the design is saved in Capital Harness Designer LD.

If you re-open the design in Capital Harness Designer / Modular, a message is displayed to warn you that the design has changed and that you should transform the data to use the latest design.

Note

If the LD data is open in Capital Harness Designer / Modular, you can only open the design as read-only in Capital Harness Designer LD, and the other way around.

You are not prevented from opening a design containing Capital data using Capital Harness Designer LD, but a message is displayed to warn you when certain actions may result in divergence or data loss.

If you edit the Capital data before transforming the LD data, a message is displayed to prompt you to “Transform and Save” to maintain the versions. See also Transforming Vaulted Designs.
