Automatic Splice Creation

Splices are created automatically if you place the end of a wire or shield termination (the “first conductor”) on another wire or shield termination (the “second conductor”) at a point other than one of the ends of the second conductor.

The type of splice created depends on whether the second conductor is or is not a shared object:

• If the second conductor is not shared a butt splice is created and the second conductor is split into two, with one conductor retaining the name of the original conductor and the other being given a new name. The first conductor and the two conductors created from the second conductor are all connected to the pin on the splice.

• If the second conductor is a shared wire it is converted to a center-stripped wire and a center strip splice is created. The first conductor is connected to the pin on the splice.
