Common Fixture Placement

Arguments

There are multiple arguments that are common to all fixture placement constraints.

Arguments

All bundles

Use to control the scope of bundles considered during fixture placement: All — The default parameter for new constraints. All bundles are considered.

Internal — Examines both bundle end nodes and if both nodes connect to two or more bundles (that is they have junctions at both ends), this will be considered an internal bundle.

Connector — Examines both bundle end nodes and if one node only is a junction node and the other is a bundle end (that is only connected to one bundle), it will be deemed a connector bundle.

matching

Use to specify properties, attributes, and query expression conditions to drive the selection of the fixture. Name — Default value. Click to open a popup menu to select from a list of attributes and properties scoped to the type of object that the fixture is being selected for.

= — Default operator. Click to open a popup menu to select an alternative operator.

.* — Default value (Denotes a wildcard character that can be used to substitute for any other characters in a string). Click to open a popup menu to set specific value.

— Default setting. Use to specify a query expression condition to drive the selection of the associated matching object. Click the text to open a popup menu: Click Edit or New to open the Condition Dialog Box to create a new query expression or edit an existing one. In the Condition dialog box, click the Advance Editor button (), to open the Edit Query Expressions dialog box and create or edit advanced queries. See also “Query Expressions”.

Click {any} to apply to all matching objects.

Select a predefined query from the list. See “Query Expression Context” to filter items in the list.

min length

Use to specify a minimum segment length of the bundle to be considered. Used in conjunction with the max length argument, to define a range for the segment length. The constraint is applied on bundle segments within the length range only: 0.0 — Default value. Click to specify a value.

max length

Use to specify a maximum segment length of the bundle to be considered. Used in conjunction with the min length argument, to define a range for the segment length. The constraint is applied on bundle segments within the length range only: 0.0 — Default value. Click to specify a value.

at intervals

Use to specify a spacing distance at which to place the fixtures along the bundle. If the interval value is “0”, one fixture is placed: num — Default value. Click to specify a value.

part number

Use to configure various ways to specify the fixture part number to use. Click the displayed value to open a popup menu: Edit or New — Opens the Text Expression Dialog Box to create a new query expression or edit an existing one to drive the selection of the fixture part number. In the Text Expression dialog box, click the Advanced Editor button () to open the Edit Query Expressions Dialog Box, and create or edit advanced queries.

Part Selection — Displays the Part Selection Dialog Box to set a specific part number to use.

— Default value. The fixture part number will be auto selected when Place Fixtures is run. Selection is based on the fixtures library definition and the location it is placed. (Not applicable to Fixture Placement Component or Fixture Placement Nodes constraints).

A predefined query from the list. See “Query Expression Context” filter items in the list.

position

Use to specify the position of the fixture in relation to the bundle/arc: Above — Place the fixture above the bundle graphic.

Below — Place the fixture below the bundle graphic.

Center — Place the fixture on the center of the bundle/arc graphic.

Inside (arc constraints only) — Place the fixture on the inside of the arc.

Outside (arc constraints only) — Place the fixture on the outside of the arc.

from

Use to specify the position to start placing fixtures from: Junction Note Junction replaces the old Start Point parameter. Any existing constraints using Start Point automatically change to use Junction.

Center Offset

Center Point

Connector — Starts placement from the connector end of the bundle Note Fixture placement constraint settings are preserved through bundle rotation actions including Rotate Harness Section and Edit Arc Segment.

offset

Use to specify an offset along a bundle length from the defined position: 0.0 — Default value. Click to specify a value.

using datum

Use to specify a Fixture Placement Datum to be used as an insertion point when placing the fixture instead of the default symbol origin: — Default value. Click to open a popup menu to specify the name of a valid fixture placement datum.

at offset

Use to specify an offset along a bundle length to the defined placement position: num — Default value. Click to specify a value.

from start

Use to define a start, or end position for an offset to be applied. Start points are at junctions. End points are at connectors: Start
