Wire Path Highlighting

You can highlight the path of wires to enable you to visualize wire routes when you are manipulating bundles.

To activate, click the Wire Path Highlighting icon () on the Status Bar.

This video demonstrates the functionality.

With wire path highlighting enabled, when you select any harness object or decoration on the diagram (full scale or non-full scale), the paths of all connected wires which pass through it are highlighted. You can also select harness objects in the Harness Design Browser, including individual connector and splice cavity nodes, to trigger wire path highlighting. If you select multiple objects, the paths of all wires which run through them are highlighted.

Splices If you select the splice itself (either through the browser tree or by selecting the cavity table or splice name on the diagram), the highlighting will include all wires connected to the splice (including any center-stripped wires at the splice)

If you select the splice node, the highlighting shows all associated wires which pass through that node, which may include wires that are not connected to the splice.

Note

Selecting a fixture does not trigger any highlighting of associated wires; you must select the object the fixture is supporting (for example bundle segment, component, junction or node) to highlight any associated wire paths.

Figure 139, shows an example of wire path highlighting. Connector Conn1 is selected and the paths of all the connected wires that are associated with that connector are highlighted in yellow and blue.

The wire path highlighting is independent of zoom level. Figure 140 shows a zoomed out view of a harness with wire path highlighting visible in blue and yellow.

The wire paths remain highlighted enabling you to manipulate bundles to achieve the desired configuration. You can click into space on the diagram canvas to clear any highlighting.

The highlight color pattern uses the default Object Selection Color and an automatically selected complimentary color to achieve the optimum visual contrast. You can change the Object Selection Color using Select Color Dialog Box.
