Associating a Block With

a Design

You can associate a block with a design to create a hierarchical representation of how multiple Capital Logic Designer designs are connected.

Note

If you associate a block with a design that is already associated with another block on the diagram the blocks will be merged, making two instances of the original. See Creating New Instances of a Block.

Procedure

Select the block:Press the space bar and enter Properties.

Right-click and select Properties.

Double-click the block on the diagram.

The General Tab (Properties Dialog Box) [Blocks] is displayed.

Specify a name for the block or accept the default.
To select the design:Click the Associated Design ellipsis button (...) in the Select Design Dialog Box.

Type the first few characters of the required design and select it in the auto-complete list.

Note If there is an active Logic build list in the project, you can only associate blocks with design revisions in that build list. You can only associate a block with the most recent revision of a design. You cannot associate a block with the design that the block is in.

Tip When using the auto-complete functionality you can use wildcards. For example, typing * lists all available target designs.

Make any other changes required to the block attributes and properties.
Click OK.

Results

Once a block is associated to a target child design, its icon changes to show the block / design association (). The difference between associated and unassociated block icons is shown in Figure 126. Positioning the cursor over the block in the Design Browser displays a tooltip with details of the design to which it is associated.
