New Logical Design Dialog Box

To access: Press the space bar and enter New Logic Design or right‑click the project in the Project Browser and select New Logical Design.

Used to create a new logical design.

Field	Description
Design Details
Name	A label to identify the logical design. Enter a new name or click the ellipsis button (...) to select from a list of pre-specified logical diagram names maintained in the project’s Object Type Information in Capital Project Manager. The contents of this field are displayed in red if they are not unique within the project. Mandatory.
Properties	Click to access the Edit Design Properties Dialog Box to add, edit, or delete design properties.
Revision	Specifies the version of the design, permitting multiple updated versions of the same design to exist in the database. Enter the initial version number or letter when creating a new design. Subsequent revisions receive a new revision number as part of their creation. See also “Creating a Design Revision” in the Capital Project Manager User Guide. Mandatory.
Short description	A brief description for the design. Optional.
Description	A detailed description for the design. Optional.
Release Level	The release level of the design. See also “Release Level” in the Capital Project Manager User Guide. If no custom levels are configured, the only option available is Draft, which is selected by default. Mandatory.
Abstraction	The level of abstraction for the design. A level of abstraction is a user-defined value that is assigned to a design and that indicates what type of design it is. For example, a top-level overview of a system could be labeled with a level of abstraction System and a more detailed schematic of the same system could be labeled with a level of abstraction Schematic. Optional. See also “Design Abstraction” in the Capital Project Manager User Guide.
Domain	If you are using domains to restrict user access to designs, select the domain to which this design belongs from the dropdown list. Only users with access rights to the selected domain can access the design. Optional. Domains are created and associated with user accounts in Capital Access Manager. See also “Domains” in the Capital Access Manager User Guide.
Applicable Options	Only displayed if the Options project preference is selected in the “Capital Logic Designer > Module Codes, Options” section of the Preferences dialog box. See Project Preferences. Used to limit the options that can be applied to objects on diagrams in the design. Click the Applicable Options ellipsis button (...) to display the Applicable Options Dialog Box. If no applicable options are entered any of the options defined for the project in Capital Project Manager can be applied to objects on diagrams in the design. See also Options and Option Relationships. Optional.
Applicable Modules	Only displayed if the Modules project preference is selected in the “Capital Logic Designer > Module Codes, Options” section of the Preferences dialog box. See Project Preferences. Used to specify the functional module codes that can be applied to objects on diagrams in the design. Click the Applicable Modules ellipsis button (...) to display the Applicable Modules Dialog Box. Only functional module codes entered in this field can be applied to objects on diagrams in the design. See also Functional Module Codes. Optional.
Option	Only displayed if the Options project preference is selected in the “Capital Logic Designer > Module Codes, Options” section of the Preferences dialog box. See Project Preferences. The option expression to apply to the whole design. Click the Option ellipsis button (...) to display the Edit Option Expression Dialog Box.
Effectivity	Only displayed if the Effectivity project preference is selected in the General section of the Preferences dialog box. See Project Preferences. The effectivity ranges that apply to the design. Click the Effectivity ellipsis button (...) to display the Edit Effectivity Dialog Box. See “Effectivity” in the Capital Project Manager User Guidefor an overview of using effectivity.
Location	The physical location in the product where the design’s content resides. Optional.
Function	The function that should be achieved in the product through the design. Optional.
Diagram Details
Create Diagram	Select to create a diagram for the design automatically. Optional
Name	The name of the diagram to be automatically created. Mandatory
Properties	Click to access the Edit Diagram Properties Dialog Box to add, edit, or delete diagram properties.
Style Set	The style set to associate with the diagram. If no additional style sets have been created, only Default is available. Mandatory. See “Style Sets” in the Capital Diagram Styling User Guide to create and maintain style sets.
