Terminating a Wire at a Cavity

You can specify the connector/device/splice cavities at which a wire terminates.

Procedure

  1. Either:Press Space Bar and enter Wires.

Right-click a wire in the Harness Design Browser and select Wires.

The Edit Wires Dialog Box is displayed.

  1. Select the wire to terminate from the Wires list, and then click the Details tab.Note The tab is divided into two sections, one for each end of the wire. The fields in each section apply to that wire end only.

  2. Specify the Connector / Device / Splice / Backshell at which the wire end terminates.

  3. The Cavity dropdown list offers every cavity available within the connector or splice specified. Select the required cavity.

  4. Specify a Termination Method from the list available. The system can calculate whether a wire is cut and terminated automatically or cut and manually terminated. You can manually override how the system will terminate wires for labor costing purposes.

  5. Click Apply. If you want to terminate the other end of the wire, repeat steps 3 and 4, and then click Apply.

  6. Click OK.
