Wiring > Synthesis Configuration

Defining Synthesis Configurations

You define synthesis configurations in an xml file in a client installation. You can edit and remove the default configurations as well as add your own configurations.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the config/SynthesisConfigurations.xml.example file in your installaion.

  2. Remove .example from the file name.

  3. Open the file in an editor and edit it as required.Note The file contains four default synthesis configurations: Full Synthesis, Modular Synthesis, Generate & Finish, Finish Synthesis. There is no configuration for Custom Settings because that is a different way of selecting specific synthesis actions. For a full example of a user-defined configuration (both in the XML file and in the dialog box), see Usage Example for Synthesis Configurations.

Attribute

Description

Configuration

name

Specify the name of the configuration. This appears on the icon in the Wiring Synthesis dialog box.

  type

Whether this is a composite wiring synthesis or modular wiring synthesis configuration. Specify CWS or MWS. This is case-sensitive. Caution Specifying this impacts which actions can be edited for a configuration. That is, which actions can be selected or unselected in a configuration. See the Editable Actions Depending on Synthesis Type table below this one for which actions can be edited for a particular synthesis type (CWS/MWS).

  icon

Specify the name of the icon used for this configuration in the Wiring Synthesis dialog box. You must select from a specific set of icons. See Synthesis Configuration Icons. If you do not specify a valid name from the list, the system defaults to the config_1 icon.

  tooltip

The tooltip text displayed when you hold your mouse curser over the icon in the dialog box. This is optional.

Action

name

The name of the synthesis action. Case-sensitive. See Wiring Synthesis Dialog Box for descriptions of the actions. Caution You must not edit these pre-defined action names or add custom action names. You can only edit the attributes for these pre-defined actions as described in the following rows.

See the Editable Actions Depending on Synthesis Type table below this one for which actions can be edited for a particular synthesis type (CWS/MWS).

  selected

Whether the action is selected (yes/no) by default for this configuration.

  editable

Whether the selection of the action can be changed (yes/no) when this configuration is selected in the dialog box.

  count

Applies only to "Stop process when Harness Levels reach" action. Specify the default, maximum number of harness levels allowed per harness.

  type

Applies only to "Generate Vehicle Configurations" action. Specify whether synthesis generates just the max-complexity vehicle configurations (maximum) or all possible vehicle configurations (full).

Results

  • When you next start Capital Systems Integrator and open the Wiring Synthesis dialog box, the defined configurations appear on it.

  • If required, you can use arrows to scroll through the configurations in the dialog box. Figure 213: Configuration Icons with Arrows

  • If the file or configuration is invalid, a message displays in a Synthesis Configurations tab in the Output Window at the bottom of the application: Invalid Synthesis configuration file found

Invalid Synthesis configuration 'Configuration_Name' found
