Moving, Swapping, and Copying Signal Mappings

You can move, swap, and copy signal mappings when editing them in the Signal Mappings tab of a Signal Map dialog box. This enables you to edit signal mappings with fewer clicks.

Note

These actions are not available when a device has a device footprint assigned in the associated Capital Logic Designer design.

If you have selected rows in the table and want to clear the selection, right-click them and choose Clear Selection.

Prerequisites

You have opened the appropriate Signal Map dialog box and are viewing the

Signal Mappings

tab.

Procedure

Note

When selecting a connector name or cavity name from the right-click menus in the procedures, you can type characters to jump to the name that matches those characters. This works for the last open right-click menu. That means, if the connectors menu was open last, typing characters navigates to items in the connector menu. If the cavities menu is open as well, typing characters navigates to items in the cavities menu.

When selecting a cavity name from a right-click menu, empty cavities display in bold font and tool-tips on cavities display the signals and wires that currently go to them.

Note

The tool-tip on a cavity has a maximum width:

• In the case of the comma-separated list of signals, after the first completed signal name, if there are more than 50 characters in total, the tool tip will be truncated with an ellipses (…). For example, COND1…

• The comma-separated list of wires lists all the wires of the above-listed signals if the total signal name character count is less than or equal to 60. If the character count is greater than 60, the wire names are truncated with ellipses after the first-completed wire name. For example, WIRE1…

Decide what you want to do with the signal mappings.

Note

In a signal map for an inline connector, the actions will copy, move, or swap preferred signals along with the signals and wires.

If there is no mapped wire in a selected signal mapping, you can can still copy, move, or swap the preferred signal.

If you want to...	Do the following:
Move one or more signal mappings to another connector cavity.	Select one or more signal mapping rows, right-click them, and choose Move To > > . The selected signal mappings move to the new connector cavity. Note You can select multiple signal mapping rows for this action only in the Signal Map dialog box for slots.
Swap signals between two connector cavities.	Either: Select the two signal mapping rows, right-click them, and choose Swap Mapping. Select one signal mapping row, right-click it, and choose Swap With > > . Note When a cavity has multiple signals and you select it for swapping from another cavity, only the displayed signal in the tool-tip will be swapped. The displayed signal is the first signal when sorted alphanumerically. The signal mappings swap connector cavities.
Copy one or more signal mappings to another connector cavity. Note You may want to do this if a signal needs to map to variant connectors.	Select one or more signal mapping rows, right-click them, and choose Copy To > > . The signals now map to the newly selected connector cavity, as well as the previously mapped connector cavity. Note Copying mappings via multi-select is only applicable to the Signal Map dialog box for slots.
