Define

Harness Levels Dialog Box

To access: Select a harness in the Design Browser (Design tab), press Space Bar, enter Levels, and select the Automate > Complexity > Levels ribbon action. Alternatively, right-click the selected harness and choose Define Harness Levels.

Use this dialog box to create and edit harness levels for a selected harness.

Objects

Field	Description
Set the options that affect the Harness	Displays the Set Harness Options Dialog Box where you can select the options that apply to the harness.
Give away options	Displays the Give Away Dialog Box where you specify the giveaway options for the harness.
Import Levels from level definition file	Displays the Import Levels dialog where you browse to an XML file that contains harness level definitions that you want to import and click Import.
Export Levels to Level definition file	Displays the Export Levels dialog where you browse to the location where you want to save an XML file that contains the harness level definitions, specify a file name and click Export.
Add a new Level to the harness	Displays the Add Level dialog where you specify a name for a new harness level and click OK. The harness level is created and a row for it is added to the Levels table.
Combine two Levels into one	Displays the Combine Levels for Dialog Box where you select harness levels to combine with the harness level that is selected in the Levels table. See Combining Harness Levels into One.
Set the properties for the selected Level	Displays the Edit Properties dialog for the harness level that is selected in the Levels table. See Editing the Attributes and Properties of Objects for more information.
Merge two levels into one	Enabled only if you select two levels that are not abstract levels, child levels, or parent levels. Merges the two selected levels. See Merging Two Harness Levels into One. The first selected level has the vehicle models, option definitions, take rate, and maximum complexity that will be used in the merged harness level. The second selected level has the name, part number, attributes (besides take rate), and properties that will be used in the merged harness level.
Delete the selected Level	Deletes the harness level that is selected in the Levels table.
Delete all Levels	Deletes all harness levels in the Levels table, regardless of any filter being applied.
Hide abstract harness levels Show abstract harness levels	Click this button to toggle the display of abstract harness levels in the Levels table. When abstract levels are hidden, only physical harness levels are displayed. This allows you to focus on physical levels that form your complexity.
Toggle vehicle models columns vs. variants	Toggles whether columns are displayed for vehicle models or variant options in the Levels table. See Usage Notes section for a video demonstrating the behavior.
Levels Table	Lists the existing harness levels for the harness selected in the Design Browser (Design tab). You can click on column header to sort the rows according to the contents of that column. If you click a model, variant option, or option column header, the system sorts the rows based on the checked state of the rows.
Level	The name of the harness level. The name displays in red if there is a conflict between the vehicle models and options that you have selected in the table. You cannot change the width of this column. You can enter a string in the field at the top of the column to display only harness levels that contain that string. You click the icon to specify whether you want to use wildcards in the string or not.
Part Number	If required, enter a Part Number for the harness level. Note The Part Number field in the Edit Properties dialog box for the harness level updates with the value entered here. If you change the value in that dialog box again, this column updates also. You cannot change the width of this column. You can enter a string in the field at the top of the column to display only harness levels with part numbers that contain that string and harness levels without a part number. You click the icon to specify whether you want to use wildcards in the string or not.
Set as Active	Specifies whether the harness level is currently active (selected) or not (unselected).
Model	Specifies whether the vehicle model represented by each column is supported by the harness level (selected) or not (unselected). Like variant options, models are indicated by a green line at the top of the Levels table. If you hold the mouse cursor over a model column, information displays about the variant options and options that are associated with it. Note: When you select a vehicle model, you are specifying that the harness level supports the variant options in the vehicle model. You can use the filter at the top of a column to display only those harness levels matching a particular checked state of a model.
Variant	Specifies whether the variant option represented by each column is supported by the harness level (selected) or not (unselected). Like models, variant options are indicated by a green line at the top of the Levels table. Note The variant options are grouped together under the option folders that contain them. If you hold the mouse cursor over a variant option column, information displays about its mutually-exclusive variant options. Note: When you select variant options, the system selects each model that supports all of the selected variants. If a model supports only some of the selected variants, the system will not select it. You can use the filter at the top of a column to display only those harness levels matching a particular checked state of a variant. Variant options have the following checked states: Unchecked () means that no vehicle models with this variant option are supported by the harness level. Checked () means that all vehicle models with this variant option are supported by the harness level. Partial () means that only some vehicle models with this variant option are supported by the harness level. There are models with this variant option that are not supported.
Options	Specifies whether the option represented by each column is supported by the harness level (selected) or not (unselected). If you hold the mouse cursor over an option column, information displays about inclusive and exclusive options. Non-giveaway options are indicated by a blue line at the top of the table. Giveaway options are listed at the far right of the table with no line above them. In the following example, Audio-High and Liftgate are non-giveaway options, and Subwoofer is a giveaway option. An icon at the top of a column provides further info about that option: indicates a Pass-through Option. indicates a Giveaway option. indicates an option that is both pass-through and given away. Note If an option is selected for a harness level, this does not necessarily mean that the harness level has any wiring to support that option. The level may be fitted into vehicles that have that option, even if no wires are active for that option in this particular harness. You can use the filter at the top of a column to display only those harness levels matching a particular checked state. The boxes can be the following colors.
White check box, with or without a tick	Indicates that the state of this option is OK as it is (selected or unselected) and is still OK if changed (that is, select or unselect it). This can occur only if the option is OPT in the vehicle model. It also means that there are no issues with inclusive/exclusive relationships with other options.
Red	Indicates that there is an issue with the setting. Possible issues are: The option is inactive on the harness level, but is standard on a vehicle model supported by the level. The option is inactive on the harness level, but is included by another option that is active on the level. If an option is selected (with a tick), unselecting it normally fixes the issue. If an option is unselected (without a tick), selecting it normally fixes the issue. In both cases, there may be some scenarios where there is no viable setting of an option to other option settings.
