Promoting a Message to
a Shared Message
You can promote a non-shared message to be a shared object.
Note
You can use a batch share action to share multiple signals and messages across functional designs in a function build list. This functionality selects signals and messages for sharing according to user-defined match criteria in the project preferences. See Batch Sharing Objects in a Function Build List.
Prerequisites
- The non-shared message that you want to promote has already been added to the design. See Creating a Functional Message in a Design.
Procedure
Either:
Select the message you want to promote. Press Space Bar and enter Share, then select Home > Sharing > Share from the Search Ribbon dropdown list.
Right-click the message you want to promote and select Share.
Note
You cannot promote a message if it has the same name as an existing shared message.
Results
- The message is promoted to be a shared object and is added to the Shared Objects Browser Window.
Note
When you create more than one instance of a shared object, cross-references are displayed next to the instances in the diagrams. See Cross-References on Objects.
