Specifying a Poke Home Wire
A poke home wire is a wire that is connected during harness installation and not during harness manufacture. It terminates on hardware that belongs to another harness. You indicate that a wire is a poke home wire using the Harness attribute. This attribute is used for mapping Capital Logic Designer objects to harnesses during synchronization in Capital Harness Designer. During synchronization, wires that terminate on an object that has a different Harness attribute value are automatically identified as being poke home wires.

Caution
Poke home wires can also be specified on the Poke Home tab in the Properties Dialog Box for a wire. However, the Poke Home tab method of specifying a poke home is intended to support legacy user-flow cases only. The recommended best practice is to use the Harness attribute method of specifying a poke home. The Poke Home tab is not displayed in the properties dialog box if you have selected the Treat Wires Terminating On A Different Harness As Poke Home project preference.

If you are using Capital Wiring Integrator, you can specify a bundle as a poke home. See Specifying a Bundle (Harness) as a Poke Home.
Prerequisites
- The Treat Wires Terminating On A Different Harness As Poke Home project preference must be selected. See Project Preferences.
Procedure
Specify the Harness attribute for each object in the design that has a poke home connection. Ensure that value you specify for a poke home wire is different to the value you specify for the object to which it is connected as a poke home. See Specifying the Harness Attribute for an Object for a description of how to specify the Harness attribute for an object.
Caution
Although you can specify multiple harness designs or harness groups in the Harness field as a comma-separated list, you must not do for a poke home wire because a poke home wire only ever belongs to one harness.
Results
When the design is synchronized with Capital Harness Designer designs:
The Capital Logic Designer objects are synchronized with the appropriate harness designs in Capital Harness Designer.
If a wire has a different Harness attribute to an object it is connected to it is recognized as being a poke home. When you generate reports for the Capital Harness Designer designs, the poke home prefix is added to the wire’s name. The poke home prefix is specified by setting the “Poke home prefix” project preference. See Project Preferences. Note When you set the Harness attribute to specify a poke home wire, the poke home arrow style is not automatically applied to the wire. To apply the poke home arrow style to all poke home wires at the poke home end, press the space bar and enter Apply to All. You can specify the poke home arrow style using the Poke Home Arrow Style project preference. See Project Preferences. The wires in Capital Harness Designer must all terminate, so connectors not belonging to that harness are created with “Poke Home” set against the connector. It is also set as “not on BOM”.
Examples
In the following example, the red objects (Device A, connector P01 and wires 001 and 002) have a harness attribute of H1. The blue objects have a harness attribute of H2.

Wires 001 and 002 have different Harness attributes to connector P02 to indicate that they are poke homes where they terminate at P02.
When this design is synchronized with Capital Harness Designer designs for harness H1 and harness H2:
Only H1 objects are synchronized with the H1 design, although the connector P02 also appears in it but is treated as “not on BOM”.
Only H2 objects are synchronized with the H2 design.
Wires 001 and 002 are recognized as poke home wires.
