Synchronizing from a Capital Logic Designer Build List

You can synchronize data (connectors, devices, splices, wires, and multicores) from one or more logical designs, authored in Capital Logic Designer, into one or more harness designs. Logical data can be synchronized into an empty harness design as the basis for a new harness, or it can be used to add connectivity to a harness with an existing topology.

Prerequisites

  • A change policy exists to govern the synchronization. See also “Creating a Change Policy” in the Capital Project Manager User Guide.

  • A Logic build list exists that contains the Capital Logic Designer designs from which you want to synchronize data. See also “Creating a Build List” in the Capital Project Manager User Guide.

  • The harness designs into which you want to synchronize data exist in the same harness build list. See also “Creating a Build List” in the Capital Project Manager User Guide.

  • The component data you want to synchronize from the source design is tagged with a harness attribute in the Capital Logic Designer designs. To facilitate the automatic mapping of harnesses, the attributes are given the same name or Harness Group, as the harness designs into which they are to be synchronized. See also “Specifying the Harness Attribute for an Object” in the Capital Logic Designer User Guide.

  • No harness designs into which logical data is to be synchronized have a status of Released, or are locked.

  • To apply filters during synchronization, option or module codes must be specified in the source and target design. See also New Harness Design Dialog Box.

Procedure

  1. With the project containing the designs to be synchronized open, press Space Bar and enter Synchronize. The Synchronize Harness Designs

Dialog Box is displayed.

  1. Specify a Source Design type of Logic Build List.

  2. Select the Change Policy to govern the synchronization, from the dropdown list.

  3. Select the Logic Build List from the dropdown list. The Available Source Designs field lists all designs in the selected build list.

  4. Select the Harness Build List from the dropdown list. The Available Harness Designs field lists all designs in the selected build list.

  5. Select the designs to include in the synchronization—both logical and harness—from the appropriate lists.

  6. Click the Harness Mapping tab.Note The Source Harness column lists all harness attributes discovered in the logical designs, and the Target Harness Designs column displays those harness designs with names matching the discovered harness attributes.

  7. Where a mapping cannot be created automatically, select a Target Harness Design to match to each Source Harness you want to synchronize, from the dropdown list.Note You can synchronize the content from multiple logical designs into the same harness design.

Tip Applying filters includes only the required wires, and their related components, and avoids manually de-populating objects in the design following synchronization. Sets of option codes can be defined and stored with the target design or in the project, and can be reused during future synchronization processes. See “Synchronization Rules”.

  1. To apply filters to each of your harness designs, click the Filter dropdown list and choose one of the following Filter options:None

  1. Click OK. A progress bar monitors the status of the synchronization. Once complete, click Close.

Results

A Synchronize- Summary is added to the Output Window summarizing the creation, update, and deletion of components, along with any errors encountered.

A Synchronize- Detailed offers more information on changes to component attributes and properties. Where a component is listed by name, clicking the name highlights the component on the diagram.

Wires and multicores that you have authored in the harness design are not deleted by the synchronization process. This is to preserve “dummy” wires, that you may have added for ‘non-electrical’ reasons.
