Adding New Pins to a Non-shared

Object

You can add new pins to a non-shared device, jack, plug, or inline that does not have a library part associated with it.

Note

You cannot add new pins to an object that has a library part associated with it. Instead, you place pins from the library part definition onto the object. See Placing Pins on a Non-shared Object.

Prerequisites

• You have added a device that does not have a library part associated with it to a diagram.

Procedure

1. You can add one or more pins:To add one pin, select the object: Press the space bar and enter Add Pin, and then click Create in the Place Pins Dialog Box [Non-Shared Objects].

Right-click and select Add Pin, and then click Create in the Place Pins Dialog Box [Non-Shared Objects].

Press P.

To add multiple pins, right-click the object, press the Shift key and select Add Pin.

The cursor changes to . Circles indicate locations on the object where you can place the pins and dotted gray lines / boxes indicate locations outside the object where you can place the pins.

2. Hover over a location to place a pin.The cursor changes to .

3. Click to place a pin.

4. If you are placing multiple pins, repeat Steps 2 and 3 for each pin to add, and then press the Esc.

Results

• The pins are placed on the device. The object stretches to include any pins placed outside its boundaries.
