Converting a Pin to a Stud Pin
You can convert a device pin to a stud pin, which enables you to attach multiple ring terminals to the same pin. This is designed to support the common practice of mating multiple ring terminals to one stud pin, for example, where an earthing point is required.
Note
Stud pins on non-shared devices are excluded from the “Disallow pin/port duplication within a design” project preference, as they can be placed a number of times to facilitate the mating of multiple ring terminals.
In Capital Logic Designer, you can convert normal pins on devices to stud pins. Alternatively, if you specify stud pins on a device in Capital Component Manager, when you add the library part to device in Capital Logic Designer, normal pins on the device are automatically converted to stud pins in order to match the library part definition and you can use the Generate Harness Connectors action to generate ring terminals connected to the stud pins. When a device with a stud pin is placed in a slot in Capital Systems Integrator, you can see it in the signal map. For information on mating multiple ring terminals to the same stud pin using Signal Mapping, see “Stud Pins and Ring Terminals ” in the Capital Systems Integrator User Guide.
The stud pin icon in the Design Browser and in dialog boxes that list pins is . On diagrams stud pins are represented by a circle ().

Procedure
Right-click a pin on a device and select Convert To Stud Pin.
Results
The pin is converted to a stud pin and can be mated with multiple ring terminals.
The pin’s icon in the Design Browser changes from the normal pin icon () to the stud pin icon () and the pin’s representation on the diagram changes from a diamond () to a circle ().
Note
The Convert To Stud Pin action is unavailable if the device has a library part associated with it. For pins on shared devices the Convert To Stud Pin action is unavailable if:
The shared device is frozen and your user account does not have the Frozen Shared Object Pin Attributes/Properties permission set in Capital Access Manager. See “Permissions” in the Capital Access Manager User Guide.
The pins are present on another design which is open elsewhere.
The pins are present in another design which is set to a release level that does not permit design changes (that is, that does not have the Design Changes release level behavior). See “Release Level Behaviors” in the Capital Project Manager User Guide.
