Adding a Splice Based on a
Symbol
You can add a splice based on a splice symbol.
Prerequisites
- The symbol must exist in the symbol library. See “Creating a New Symbol” in the Capital Symbol Designer User Guide.
Procedure
- In the Symbol Browser:Double-click the symbol name.
Select the symbol name: Press Space Bar and enter Symbol Device, and then select Home > Device > Symbol from the Search Ribbon dropdown list.
Double-click the symbol in the symbol preview pane.
Move the cursor over the diagram. The symbol is displayed next to the cursor.
Click to place the splice.Note When placing a symbol, you can press R to rotate the symbol or F to flip it.
Results
The splice is added to the diagram as a symbol and is added to the Design Browser.
If you placed the splice on the end of a wire, the wire is connected to the splice.
If you placed the splice on a non-shared wire at a point other than one of the ends of the wire, the wire is split into two wires, with one wire retaining the name of the original wire and the other being given a new name.
If you placed the splice on an instance of a shared wire at a point other than one of the ends of the instance, a new instance of the shared wire is added on one side of the splice.
Note
You cannot resize a symbol in Capital Logic Designer. To resize a symbol graphic, you must use Capital Symbol Designer and then update the symbol graphic on the diagram. See Updating Symbols.
