Configuring Which Signal Properties Are Propagated

from Capital Signal Modeler

When you map a function signal to a network signal, by default the system automatically propagates all network signal properties from Capital Signal Modeler to the function signal in Capital Systems Modeler. For example, if the network signal has a value for a Transmission Rate property, the system assigns a property called Transmission Rate with that value to the function signal. You can configure this behavior to prevent the system from propagating particular properties.

For example, it is recommended that you prevent the system from propagating the Value Table property that contains a series of values and descriptions. The size of the data in this property is likely to exceed 1024 characters. If you do propagate it, note that Capital Logic Designer has built-in validation that will truncate the value to 1024 characters.

Note

This does not affect downstream flows because the system reads all properties from Capital Signal Modeler, not from Capital Systems Modeler, when you export a DBC file from a platform design in Capital Systems Architect.

Procedure

  1. Locate a file called systems_signal.json.example in the config directory of your Capital installation and rename it to systems_signal.json (that is, remove .example from the name).

  2. Find the properties section of the file and add an entry for each property you want to exclude from the propagation. For example: In the entry, the PersistInCapture parameter with the value ‘false’ indicates that the system will not propagate the network signal property to a function signal in Capital Systems Modeler. In this example, it will not propagate the Function property. Caution The value used for the name must be identical to the name value specified for that property in the webclient/configuration/dictionary/functionalsignalproperties.json file in your Capital installation. The VisibleInCapture and SortIndex parameters relate to the display of the property as a column in the Name Selection dialog box when mapping signals. See Configuring the Display of Network Signal Properties in the Name Selection Dialog Box.

  3. Save the file.

Results

When you next map a function signal to a network signal, the system does not propagate properties with a PersistInCapture parameter with value ‘false’.
